In a southern Oklahoma there is a large lake full of fish. In this place, on many warm summer days, my family and I would bring our boat to the lake and ride the cool calm water. We would anchor our boat and cast our rods and relax catching countless sparkling rainbow trout. My family and I did this for many years. The lake was large and always full of people, and it was surrounded by trees and full of fish. The smells were great, as well as the campfires and food, and it was always a good getaway from the city I spent many of my childhood summers and holidays here.
It was a family past time. I got excited every time my dad would pull in the driveway with the boat. After sitting for several hours in the back seat of the car, I found the slow drove to be absolute torture. I just knew when we arrived we were going to have a great time. Once we would get there we would pull up to the launching ramp, this would always scare me because it being such a steep hill. My Dad would always ask me to help, even though my little arms couldn’t do much, but at the time it made me feel like superman.
As my parents would put the ice chests and lunch into the boat, I would bounce all the way up the ladder and into the boat, jumping excited to go feel the wind in my face as we fly across the lake. Furthermore when you’re at the lake, there are some very distinct smells. The smokey smell of campfire smoke always lets you know that there are marshmallows and hotdogs being roasted. My mother would get marshmellows and Hershey bars and put them on a stick for me and would cool them off, often she would get her fingers sticky and gooey from the melting smores. The campfire we made was so bright and fiery red.

This made for a warm relaxing night to sleep under the night sky in our comfy sleeping bags. However If you’re looking for a quiet relaxation at the lake, I don’t think that will work out too well. The lake is always really loud throughout the day. You can hear the loud motors of the boat and the waves of the water as the boat come crashing through. You’ll definitely be able to hear children’s laughter and excitement as they play in the lake. The seagulls loud chirping would scare some of the little kids that were eating on the beach, they would also swoop down while were fishing!
You can feed the seagulls, but they will always keep coming back like leeches to get more! Overall the lake is lots of if you want to get away from the city that you live in. If you are there camping out in the dense forest in the wilderness and wake up early enough, you will be able to see a beautiful, bright sunrise and if you enjoy staying out on the beach until the evening, I’m sure you can catch a calming and loving sunset. After the sun has gone down for the night, you can lay in the sand and stare up at the amazing, twinkling stars.
