Many little girls admire and look up to Disney characters like Cinderella and Snow White. Characters like Cinderella and Snow White who were able to overcome the struggle and bad treatment they endure. The way Disney portrayed these characters helped develop young girls’ imagination. As children, we were expected to have a big imagination. Our imagination was developed mostly from watching Disney cartoon and movies. Disney created many movies and stories that till this day are a big part of children’s lives. However, the Disney version of fairytales is totally different compared to the Brothers Grimm version. Unlike Disney the Brothers Grimm version of the fairytales was more about teaching life lessons and these stories don’t always portray a happy ending.
The story of Cinderella is one of the most famous Disney fairytales. In the Disney version of Cinderella, Cinderella’s is a poor girl whose mother and father have died and has been left to live with her wicked stepmother and stepsister who have turned her into the house servant. She hopes to go to the ball that the King is throwing in search for a maiden the Prince could marry. (Disney 10) With the help of her fairy godmother who provided her with a beautiful dress and glass slippers to wear the only condition is that she be back by her curfew at 12o’clock. Once she arrives at the ball Prince Charming falls in love with her right before she runs off to make her curfew she leaving a glass slipper behind. In desperate search for his princess, Prince Charming went around the Kingdom asking all maiden who attended the ball to try on the glass slipper.
