In the novel “The outsiders” by S.E Hinton, there were multiple decisions made by the boys that negatively influenced their decisions mainly by Ponyboy, Johnny and Darry.
One careless decision is when Darry hit Ponyboy.
Darry hit him because he was frustrated with him because he came home at 2 in the morning. Darry also yelled at Sodapop. He thought that Ponyboy falling asleep in the lot was another excuse he was making up. Darry also yelled at Sodapop for sticking up for Ponyboy all the time. “Did it ever occur to you that your bothers might be worrying their heads off and afraid to call the police because something like this could put you two in a boy’s home so fast it would make your heads spin?”- Darry. Darrys decision led on to a downward spiral later on in the novel.
Another atrocious decision made by Johnny resulted in the killing of Bob.
Bob: You guys know what Greasers are? White trash with long, greasy hair.
Ponyboy: You know what a Soc is?
Bob: What?
Ponyboy: White trash with mustangs and madras
Johnny killed Bob because when he first got jumped, he swore to kill anyone who jumped him again. He was also afraid for Ponyboy’s life because the socs were trying to drown him. He felt threatened by the socs as well. This was another example of a damaging decision.
One more awful decision is when Johnny and Ponyboy run into the burning building.

Even though it saved lives and seems like a good decision, it is also a bad one. It killed Johnny and injured Ponyboy. Johnny’s injuries caused him to be bedridden because of his 3rd degree burns, broken back and severe shock. Ponyboy got very sick. These decisions were some of the worst in the novel.
Some of the characters in “The Outsiders” made some disagreeable decisions in the story. Darry, Ponyboy and Johnny made 3 of the worst decisions in this novel which were; Darry hitting Ponyboy, Johnny killing bob, and finally, Johnny and Ponyboy running into the burning church.
