Intro: Today I am going to be informing you guys a little bit more about Ebola. I will explain what is it, the symptoms of people who have contracted it, where it came from, where it is now, and what you can do to keep yourself safe from contracting it. What: Ebola is a severe and often fatal disease in humans and nonhuman primates (monkeys and chimpanzees) caused by the Ebola virus; characterized by high fever and severe internal bleeding. It can be spread from person to person and is largely limited to Africa. Ebola has taken well over 4,000 lives and now officials are saying that a better fatality rate estimate would be about 10,000. Ebola kills, on average, 50%-90% of its victims. It was first generated in the Congo region of Africa in 1976. It is said that this disease came from fruit bats who then passed it on to other animals such as monkeys and other tropical animals that were killed and eaten by the people in Africa. Due to improper preparation and cooking of the animals, the people who ate the infected meat got infected themselves. From then on, there has been at outrageous outbreak of this terrible disease and it has now spread into the U.S and other countries as well. In the U.S alone, we have had over 4 cases of this virus and there are many people right now that are being isolated due to coming in contact with the people who had the disease.
People who are suspected of having the disease have to be isolated for up to 21 days and are not allowed to have any human contact. There are 5 different strands of Ebola, 4 of which humans can contract. Animals, over all, are able to give the disease to each other but not to humans. The only animal that is able to give this disease to humans are monkeys. The disease is spread through a mix of bodily fluids such as blood, saliva, semen and basically any form of human contact. It can live, not just inside animals and humans but on things as well. So, for example, if someone with Ebola ate off of a fork, the virus would be able to live on that fork for a minimum of 24 hours. The virus can also live inside of a deceased hosts as well so proper burial destruction of infected corpses is necessary. There are some speculation of this disease being airborne but there has not been a sufficient amount of studies to prove this theory. Symptoms: Symptoms for this disease are cold like symptoms such as fever, head ache, body aches, sneezing, coughing, sore throat and vomiting. Other symptoms include unexplainable bleeding, blood rashes, loss of appetite, and joint pain.
The Essay on Humans And Animals Relationships
Whether its social, business, or personal, animals play an extremely important role in the lives of humans. Humans have been using animals to survive since before 100 BC. Animals have been protectors, companions, benefactors, co-workers, and even best friends. Humans need animals in their lives to stay healthy mentally and even physically. Animals are used in everyday physical therapy to increase ...
What you can do: Some things that you can do to keep yourself a little safer from contracting this virus are, washing your hands as much as you can, making sure you are cooking your food all the way before you eat it, pay attention to your body and how you are feeling, if you are feeling any type of cold like symptoms or experiencing abnormal bleeding, proceed to your nearest health care facility immediately to see if you have contracted with the virus, stay away from hospitals (prisons) as much as possible though because of obvious reasons, do not share drinks or food with people, and if possible, try to stay away from large crowds. We are not really sure how many people could be or are infected with the virus so it is important to be aware of your surroundings as well. There are some people who are saying that incase this disease gets really bad and starts spreading more quickly, you should have a passport, know a place you could go that doesn’t really contain a lot of surrounding people, and have everything you might need for an evacuation packed into a bag and ready to go.
You should probably already have or know those things for other possible situations or disasters as well but you should have those things especially now because of the lack of knowledge of the disease and how fast in could spread. One last thing you can do is NOT WORRY! Worrying about this disease is the worst thing you can do. There are 1,000’s of scientists and doctors testing different anti-bodies and vaccines and so far almost all of the cures they have tested have worked, there just isn’t a sufficient amount of studies that have been done on these cures to start using them on people yet. However, If you do happen to contract the virus and beat it, your body will have developed an anti-body that will make you immune to Ebola for up to 10 years. Some of the people who have survived this disease have said they now have some vision and joint problems. Conclusion: Today I have informed you guys about Ebola, what it is, where it came from, where it is now, the symptoms of the disease, and what you can do to prevent the disease. I hope you all learned a little bit from my speech and thank you for listening.
