“We live not according to reason, but according to fashion” 1. Searching for something better is human nature. However, as far as women are concerned, this change is usually in terms of beauty and looks. 2. Fashion, according to Longman dictionary means, “The way of dressing or behaving that is usual or popular at a certain time”. 3. But to me there is another dimension of fashion and that is doing something exceptional (this pertains to the people who are known as trend setters).
4.
Use of fashion and new ways of presenting oneself can be traced back to pre biblical days when wives of the Pharaohs of Egypt did almost anything to make them most attractive. But those were good old days with no television, newspapers or telephones to advertise new face lifting techniques and tools. 5. God made men and women to be appealing to one another to look upon– for obvious reasons. But ever since the fall, there have had to be barriers put into place to protect us from inappropriate desires and to lead to sexual thoughts and sin.
6. Coming to the point that over the centuries many new ways and trends have been devised to look good. This has given rise to competition and this competition has taken its toll on the pockets of the bread earners i. e. the males. 7. The biggest adverse effect is the wasting of precious resources. The female lot as by its psyche goes on rampage to find the trendiest clothes along with a pair of matching shoes and cosmetics, etc. Truly speaking it’s usually not a pair of matching shoes but pairs of matching shoes.

For the elite class handling such expenses is not a big problem but for the people from the lower middle class and the middle class this extra spending has come hard on their pockets, making it even more difficult for them to make ends meet. 8. The second major adverse effect of the fashion craze in our country is that when women folk see a new trend, they try to copy it without seeing if it matches their physique or suits their pocket. What they see and feel is that now they would resemble the model they have seen on the television wearing the same outfit.
Some other complications are related to our social and religious values. Sometimes the craze of looking attractive fuelled by some western television channels crosses the very fine but clearly visible limits of the meaning of the word “acceptable” and this is the ugliest face of fashion, the darkest side of the picture. 9. Another effect of fashion craze shows girls are obsessive with losing weight even when they are not obese, there are many thin girls that want to look like the super models and thin celebrities so they engage in eating disorders which leads to severe health issues and even death. 10.
The serious major issue which I think nowadays is we are now constantly focused on exposing the previously unexposed. We’re drawing attention to things that used to be personal. We’re removing the surprise and mystery out of things that used to be saved for spouses, and instead broadcasting them from the mountaintops. 11. To conclude, I would like to say that fashion among youth should be there as it is the sign of a healthy and creative mind to present itself in the best possible way but our social, cultural and religious values should also be maintained and we must also try to live within our means.
