Media literacy is so important because today’s society has access to any type of media so anyone can write, post or see whatever they want by just typing in, or turning on the television; also at this age media is very influential because we spend most of the time watching television or on the internet. There are many types of advertisements and sometimes they will twist the information to trick you into believing something that is not true, for example: there are many advertisements about expensive treatments to loose weight without doing any exercise nor diet, they show “before” and “after” pictures, and in the after picture the person looks skinny, so people pay for the treatment, but in reality most of the times the treatment doesn’t work. You have to be aware of all the things that are on the Internet and be careful. Also many of the things that appear on TV may influence children’s behavior, for example, if a kid or even a teenager is always watching violent shows, or playing violent video games, they may start seeing violence as a normal thing, and they may become violent.
