Essay on Impaired Driving and Aggressive Driving
Impaired and Aggressive driving is harmful and can be 100 percent prevented. In the first paragraph, I will be talking about how driving while impaired has severe consequences and is very dangerous to your body. In the second paragraph, I will also be talking about the effects of aggressive driving. Both of these can cause harm to you and others around you.
What does alcohol really do to you? Well, alcohol slows down your reflexes and reaction time. It also reduces you ability to see clearly and distorts your judgment of speed and distances. What does you blood alcohol content (BAC) really depend on? It primarily depends on how much you drink, your weight, and how much time passes between the drinks. About 13,000 drinking and driving convictions are recorded just in Ontario. If you are driving while impaired, the police catch you, and you refuse to take a breath test and/or registering a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.05 or more your license will be immediately suspended on the road side for 3-days. These drivers who are suspended are also subject to a $150 Administrative Monetary Penalty. That is only the first time! If they catch you again, (within 5 years) your license will be suspended for 7 days. You will have to attend a mandatory alcohol education program, and there will be a $150 Administrative Monetary Penalty. The third time they catch you (within 5 years again) you will have a license suspension of 30 days, you will attend a Mandatory alcohol treatment program, there will be a six- month ignition interlock license condition, mandatory medical evaluation, and $150 administrative Monetary Penalty. The other consequences, much more severe, are injuries, and even death. If you want to drive, don’t drink. If you want to drink, don’t drive. Don’t take the chance.

Sometimes, people find themselves in unpleasant situations. The kind when someone cuts you off, or when you are stuck in a traffic jam. Nobody likes these situations. Some people are calm about it, and others choose to curse, make gestures to show they’re annoyed, tailgate, fail to yield, speed, or somebody just might not be having the best day. This is not the right way to handle a situation. These are clearly ways of dangerous driving. There is no need to worry, though. There are ways to help. Plan your route in advance. Some of the most crazy and rude driving can happen while a driver is lost. Try your best not to take your anger out while driving, if you feel like you need to, take a few deep breaths in and out. Try your best to not take long trips. Long trips lead to more time on the road with other drivers who may not have the exact same opinion as you. Remember that other driver’s make mistakes. Do not take them personally. When you make a mistake yourself, say sorry. It is the magic word in many cases. It certainly helps to avoid conflict. Last but not least, do not carry a defensive weapon, it might provoke a potential assailant. Some of these may sound silly, but they will help a lot.
Both of the topics that were talked about are both dangerous, but 100% preventable. Don’t put your life in your own hands if you don’t have to.
