In this practice I have learned a lot about others viewpoints, there ethics, morals and values. According to the Ethical Lens Inventory, In research of my own personal Ethical Lens, I discover that my preferred lens is that I listen to my Intuition sensibility to determine the best way to handle each individual. My blind spot is that Im satisfied with too little or Unrealistic Role Exceptions, sometime I fail to be accountable to those who are depending on. I learned that my strengths are: I make virtuous choices that are good for everyone and the great gift is that I have free will and compassion. My weaknesses is that my vice is becoming Greedy or Hard-hearted taking as much role responsibility that I can get away with. My values are Balance between self and others, I value autonomy and equality equally. For me Interdependence is the goal,harmonizing the right of individuals with well-being of the community. I follow my heart, and demonstrate wisdom in practical matters and foresight.
Being an African American I have always valued the importance of all people. The ethical lens show you who you are as a person. Sometimes we get caught up in judging others action and personalities, we sometime forget to do our own self evaluation. As a child we learn values and ethic from our parents or the guardian who raised us. Some of the bad habits are learned along the way in life, but at the end of the day we live to learn! My grandmama use to say “if you do not stand for something you will fall for anything”, what means that we must be strong and true to self! As my resultant behavior I have the decision to do whats right or wrong, with my ethics an values that was instilled in me a young lady, I chose to do whats right. Have you every done something and thought you got away with it and it came back to hunt you in the end? I know I have, that is why you have to stay mindful of who you are and try to remember what you have learned in your life lesson.
