Ethics Awareness Inventory Analysis The issue of ethics is very important in peoples everyday lives. Ethics Awareness Inventory is designed to help individuals to assess its own ethical values. My combined score clearly shows that my ethical principles have strong influence on me while I make decisions. Still, in my opinion, Ethics Awareness Inventory tests cannot be relied upon when it comes to figuring out persons ethical principles as people with their own ethics are designing them, so it is logical to conclude that tests are biased according to designers preferences. In this case, the value of my score is very relative. It goes without doubt that peoples ethics play major role in how they react to different situations and environments. Yet ethical principles vary greatly among individuals, making it is basically impossible to evaluate them.
Also it is wrong to conclude that ethics as principles of behavior according to ones cultural values are attributes of every persons character. Many people are totally deprived of ethics, so we can talk of ethical values being inherited genetically rather than acquired through the process of upbringing. I think that education plays major role when were to use our ethical principles on practical level, yet it doesnt define of what we really are. In my case, being a college student, certainly influence the way I act. My ethics are defined by the set of ideas of what is good and wrong, beautiful and ugly, healthy and unhealthy Acquiring more knowledge at the college only supplement these ideas with factual information. My ethics, just as well as everybody elses, define my behavioral pattern. This creates ground to potentional conflicts with people who have different ethical values. Being an educated person helps me to find consensus in situations when conflict seems inevitable.
The Essay on Business Ethics: Ethical Decision Making And Cases
People must make decisions that are both morally and legally acceptable to the community. In order to make ethical decisions, one must ensure that he behaves in a way that the majority in the society consider good. People should behave ethically without rules and regulations being imposed on them. The society imposes sanctions to those who fail to meet ethical standards and the law punishes anyone ...
People might have different understanding of ethics but they also might have some common interests, so conflict can be avoided. When I meet person who doesnt share my ethical principles, I would try to find something that would help us to reconcile without altering the ways of our behavior. If it doesnt work then I just walk away. This corresponds to my score 10 in results of Ethical Inventory. Im not likely to bend my ethical principles in conflict situations, yet I would always try to avoid such conflicts with the help of different means. Even though people behave differently, there are certain ethical rules that are adopted by our society as universal.
Elderly people have certain social privileges as well as women and children for example. Man is a social creature and the fact that people can coexist in big cities just proves that as long as there is any common interest, people can put their differences aside. There can be no effective method to evaluate ones ethical properties, yet persons behavior can be judged by how natural it is. Many people confuse ethics with morals, although it is a fact that these are closely related. Ethical ideas can vary greatly yet they have one common feature they correspond to the laws of nature, while morals often dont. The most and least scores of character part of my Ethics Awareness Inventory Analysis, 4 and 5, shows me as a person who doesnt mix morals with ethics, otherwise it be much lower.
My behavioral pattern is not influenced by morals except when its about relations within my family. The combined score of 1, representing my character, points to the fact that I differentiate my personal ethics from the society ethics as they are not necessarily the same. I act according my understanding of what is priority and what is not, this shows me as very logical person with great potential for career making, as my work ethics will be defined by the concept of common good. To conclude this, it has to be mentioned that my interpretation of my Ethics Awareness Inventory score is highly personal one and it cannot be considered objective. It appears doubtful to me that my score can really tell a lot about me as person. I think that there is not much value in tests like that, as it leaves too much room for many subjective speculations.
The Essay on Ethics & people
The question of ethics is particularly important for a person who is both part of society and works with a group.
