The Policy seeks to improve transport infrastructures, boosting trading competitiveness. A successful example of such support is Ireland, whose road networks were dramatically improved under the terms of the policy. The area now receives unprecedented attention from companies wishing to invest in it’s thriving economy i.

The European Investment Bank is lending EUR 200 million to the Polish state-owned airports authority, Przedsiebiortwo Party Lotnicze to help pay for a new passenger terminal at Warsaw International Airport. With the acceding nations placed on the eastern peripheries of the union, such investment to link them with their western counterparts will be welcomed as a method of extending trading links.
It is anticipated that further infrastructure regeneration will be needed to establish effective trading links between the eastern and western peripheries. In conclusion it appears that accession into the European Union will eventually prove profitable to the stability and trading effectiveness of the 10 acceding nations.
