The Evaluation of the Movie Die Hard-With a Vengeance
In today’s movie producing industry, computerized special effects have dominated. From Independence Day to Armageddon and Deep Impact, these big box office hits are just some of the many. But which movie today can you think of that does not have many special effects and is still a blockbuster? Perhaps you may have different views. After spending at least 25 times or more watching the Movie Die Hard- With a Vengeance, I would definitely say that it is one of the best action movie of the decade. It may not be the best movie for the movie critiques and/or most parents due the over-exaggerated language or whatever reason, but the explosive scenes and the incredible stunts definitely attracted many matured viewers. Despite all the action, the movie also has several themes that deserves a deeper evaluation
From the beginning of the movie till the end, there was no “cold” scenes the Taiwanese movie critiques would say. That is the whole movie was full of excitements and the viewers would not dear to miss a scene. Most movies started out by having the introduction, climax, and then the resolution. Die-Hard 3 skipped the introduction and went straight to the climax. The previous Die Hard movies should already provide enough information about the main character. The scenes made the viewers nervous and eager to know what comes next. From the very first explosion in the first few minutes of the movie, my impression was that there would be more to come. Also the viewers are so eager to know the outcome that they started to come up with their own interpretation of the movie. I remember when I first watched it, I ran out of snacks and wanted to get more. I told my self to wait till this scene finishes, but another exciting scene came up. Scene after scene, explosion after another, I finally gave up and stay seated till the movie is finish.
The Essay on Bruce Willis Die Hard
Bruce Willis has shocked many people with his separation from Demi Moore and also that he made six movies in 1998. Bruce Willis was born in West Germany and grew up to be an amazing actor. The college he went to was Montclair State College. He is an actor for movies and TV shows. He has won a few awards for his TV shows. Also, he started a few bands called The Temptations and Bruno and the Bad ...
Following the outstanding performance of the movie, we must recognize some of the stunts in the film. One of the stunts I enjoy was when McClane and Zeus are trying to escape from the ship, which was loaded with explosives. They finally escaped and jump in to the ocean at the same time the bomb went off. That was probably the most exciting scene in the whole movie. Some of the stunts in the movie are not even real. Some type of computer special effect was used. When the ship got blown up, there was a scene where people on the beach miles away could see the flash. But unlike science fiction movies, viewers know that this could happen in real life. Also before the ship got blown up, some of the explosive scenes was real. For example, the scene at the subway station. I was watching the making of the movie on TV once, the director was telling the stunts that this scene is going to be very real so every one must really run away from the train or else injury will happen. So the stunts was running like crazy. I guess in order to make the scene as real as possible, the director must use this method.
As far as theme is concern, Die Hard 3 did a great job establishing its several themes. One of the major theme of the movie is racism. When John McClane (Bruce Willis) was told to wear a sign that would offend the African-American by the terrorist, we can tell right away that there will be some type of racial conflict. The black man, played by Samuel L. Jackson walked out and saved him from the thugs by jacking a taxi to go to the down town police department. The irony of this scene is that right before Zeus (black man) saved the white police officer, he told his two nephews not to help white people. Zeus believed that this was the white man’s problem, and that he should have nothing to do with it unless if the problem exists in Harlem. The terrorists set another bomb in China Town, however to keep Zeus in the game set by the terrorist, McClane must tell him the bomb was found near Harlem.
The Essay on Girls Start Movie Camera Scene
THE CRUCIBLE Throughout the course of life, many things are needed to survive. The main three are food, shelter, and love. Along with these main things there are side items. One of which is entertainment. Entertainment comes in a variety of forms. Some include: sports, music, video games, shopping, and movies. From observation one can conclude that movies are a popular form of entertainment. What ...
Another major theme is greed. Greed has existed since the day Earth was created. When the terrorist group, which was headed by a guy name Simon (Jeremy Irons) decided to play “Simon says” with McClane, he thought it was something personal and wants him dead. However, when another bomb was set off at Wall Street, McClane was told that Simon was the brother of Hans Gruber, who was thrown off a building by him in L.A. As the story proceeds, McClane finally notice that he was just a decoy. The bomb was planned to be set off on Wall Street so he could bug the alarm of the Federal Reserved. Simon launched other “games” for the cops to play; while doing so he and his crew can concentrate breaking in the Federal Reserved to get their fortune. When the bomb went off in Wall Street, McClane realize that this terrorist act was not about revenge but money.
The setting was also an important part of the movie. Although some of the scenes like blowing up a ship and taking all the gold bars from the Federal Reserved will probably never happen in real life, but isn’t that what Hollywood is all about? A lot of the other movies like Godzilla, Armageddon, Independence Day, and Deep Impact, they all had New York as their setting, because New York is the world financial center and well- known. Not many producers are willing to risk their movie at an unknown setting. How many times does the Empire State building must be blown up? How many times does New York City must be destroy? Other cities such as Chicago and L.A could have also been a choice. Some movies also made successful box office like True Lies, which the setting was in L.A. Die Hard 3 had really no other choice because L.A was the setting of the first Die Hard, and if you notice the pattern, every sequel has its own style. The first one was in a building in L.A, and the second one was at an unknown airport. Since McClane is a N.Y.P.D officer, it’s about time for him to be back in his hometown. The objective is to stop the terrorist to get all the Federal Reserved property, and New York has the largest Federal Reserved Bank.
The Term Paper on Man with a Movie Camera vs Run Lola Run
Andre Parfeniuk Student # 10260974 December 3, 2001 The Impact of Dziga Vertov on Film " The main and essential thing is : the sensory exploration of the world through film. We therefore take as a point of departure the use of the camera as a keno-eye, more perfect than the human eye, for the exploration of the chaos of visual phenomena that fills space." - Dziga Vertov , Manifesto The Council of ...
If the movie was to have take place in Chicago, it wouldn’t make much sense because Chicago is not the financial center of the world. L.A is out of the choice since the first one already took place there. Also the subway provided a setting for the scene when the bomb blew up at the Wall Street station. When McClane and Zeus had to drive from one side of town to another in 30 minutes, it was virtually impossible. In order to make in time and exciting for the audience, he drove “through” Central Park. All these scenes are costumed made for the City of New York. Unlike most movies that also may have New York as their setting, Die Hard 3 provides a different view of New York to its viewers by having clips of different part of the city at the beginning of the movie.
The language in the movie made it very interesting. The amount of cussing in the movie may be a little bit too much. But since is R-rated, kids are not suppose to watch it any ways. The cussing in the movie was basically another type of communication. If the movie was made cussing-free, it wouldn’t be as interesting and not as real. For example, when McClane was wearing the offensive sign, a black man saw it and shouted” wat da f-c”. If he was to change it to “wat da hell” or “wat da freak”, it wouldn’t make much sense because the sign was offensive and the “f” word expressed the black mans aggressive feeling. Another example was when McClane and Zeus were at a park trying to defuse a bomb, McClane called Zeus a “dumb f—-g…”, Zeus thought he was going to call him racial names, but McClane’s intention was to say “a-hole”. McClane got angry because he believed that Zeus was racist and didn’t like him because he is white. This scene can symbolize the racial conflict in the society but also shows how different race can work together. They did defuse the bomb after all.
Therefore, Die Hard 3 is definitely worth watching. Although it’s R-rated, but some parents in Taiwan still went together with their children to see. We must recognize that the action in this film is superior to a lot of the other action movies made in the 90’s. Despite the great actors in the movie, it also pinpointed some of the downfalls of our society by establishing its themes. The on-going excitements make the viewers impossible to get off their seats. Unlike other action movies that may consist of too much explosion scenes makes it hard to believe. Or some action movies are always the same you can even guess what happens next. I find it very difficult to believe when one man can kill 20 other bad guys without getting hurt, or if they do get hurt they can always hold the pain. The next Die-Hard will be coming and the setting will be in the jungle.
