Describe briefly your topic of interest (15 possible points): Evidence proves that breast feeding healthy newborns skin to skin within the first hour of life can have a direct impact on decreasing hypothermia, hypoglycemia and increasing exclusivity then babies dried and swaddled.

Title of source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Location of source (URL): www.CDC.gov/breastfeeding/data/mpinc/index

The Research paper on Parental Presence: A Research on its Effect on Child Development
Parents are considered a blessing to man from God as they are responsible for who one grows up to be. It is a common belief that one’s behavior and demeanor is a reflection of their parent. In recent times, there has been an increase in number of cases relating to juvenile delinquency among youths. The society is said to be degenerate and morality is just a theoretical principle. The society ...
Explain how the source relates to your topic of interest:
Every two years the survey is completed by the most knowledgeable about the maternity’s breastfeeding practice. Each state summits the survey. Massachusetts scored an 84 out of 100 and ranked number 2 out of 53. The survey includes thing like how facilities use evidence-base practices in their care to support breastfeeding and promote utilization of the Joint Commission Perinatal Care Core Measurement Set including exclusive breast milk feeding at hospital discharge in Massachusetts hospital data collection systems. Labor and delivery scored a quality score of 86 for initial skin-to-skin contact within the first hour of life, which helps with my question of exclusivity.

Describe (in your own words) the research database or collection of research including the purpose and the subject matter it covers: The study targeted the most likely group not to breastfeed, low income and minorities and came up with a ten step baby friendly plan to help mothers introduce and sustain the most optimal form of nutrition to their infants.
Explain how the source relates to your topic of interest: The study took place at the most urban hospital in my area, which was so exciting for my topic of interest. After reading the study I realized that any population could successfully breast feed if they too adopted the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. The evidence rating was moderate, even for NICU babies. The rate of exclusivity for one-week-old infants jumped from 34.6% to 74.4 and two week old infant rates towered from 27.9 to 65.9. Part of the Baby friendly initiative is skin to skin within the first hour of life and delay routine care to initiate a latch so that the goal is not to interfere with the natural course of events. The evidence supports it.

Describe (in your own words) the research database or collection of research including the purpose and the subject matter it covers: The report was a qualitive and quantative study to evaluate the role of breastfeeding attitudes, beliefs, and supports as they relate to young mothers.
Explain how the source relates to your topic of interest: This was a great study for me because now my question of exclusivity now examined the breastfeeding attitudes of a younger population. Factors that contributed to the success and failures were identified. This study reviewed previous studies from 2008 through 2013; the study found one of the biggest factors was an authentic presence and a genuine relationship to maintain exclusivity in the hospital. The other factor for the younger population is a common barrier found was these young mothers found they had no support once they went home, especially adolescent mothers. I realize as a group of healthcare providers we still have so many barriers and still have to make improvements for Healthy People 2020.

Describe (in your own words) the research database or collection of research including the purpose and the subject matter it covers: The research involved 682 breastfeeding mother-baby couplets from birth to six months of age in Malaysia. The study was done face to face over the time period to see if there were any independent variables regarding the infant’s age and exclusivity. Topics include things like age, multiparty, gestational age, family support, and those who practiced bed sharing just to name a few.
Explain how the source relates to your topic of interest: This helped my exclusivity portion of my research. Even though it was in a different country, the same variables exist. The study was able to target some of the determinants of exclusive breastfeeding. The baby being in arms length meant bed sharing. The study identified seven factors. The area of residence, maternal ethnicity, employed or not employed, smoking status, parity, familiar support and bed sharing all to be associated with the longevity of exclusivity.

The Research paper on Research Study Proposal: Obesity in school-age
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2015), Obesity in school-age children has increased over the past thirty years to the amount of doubling in some and even quadrupling in others. CDC statistics showed in 2012, at least one-third of the school children were large or obese. Childhood obesity continues to be a growing problem in the United States. School lunches play a ...
Explain how the source relates to your topic of interest: The study identifies like most of the research I found that the longevity of exclusivity depends of many of the same variables, this one study takes it a step further, Women should be targeted during their intrapartum period, by their care givers, and then it should be followed through during the phases of labor. Mothers should always feel like they are in an environment that protects, supports and promotes breast-feeding. It should not be a check the box question. The study proved the more positive attitudes around the expectant mother right up until the moment she delivers can increase the success of exclusivity. A positive relationship is the key in this study.
