The main objective for attending a Christian college is that it offers academic excellence with a deep understanding of the foundational commitments of Christian faith. It’s a community of faculty and students who place ethics and Christian values at the forefront of educational experiences by following Christ together. And no matter where you are in your spiritual journey it will challenge and prepare you academically, help you to grow in your faith, and teach you how to make an impact for Christ’s kingdom in the world. As Christians we have a greater purpose, and we are called upon to make a difference. Worldview by definition is a set of beliefs, values, and attitudes that enable us to process new information and maintain a consistent view of reality. The essence of a worldview lies deep in the inner recesses of the human self (Sire, 2009, p. 20).
A worldview involves your mind, heart, and soul. This is the how we make sense of life and death. And is the basis for our life’s decisions, thoughts, and actions. Our worldview provides us with an understanding of our experiences, and the values we use to basis our decision making, it’s a framework of standards. The absolute truth is that God is the Ultimate reality. Life has meaning and purpose from the beginning at birth, to the end at death. I believe we all were created by God, and each one of us is like no other being on earth. We were all created in His image, of his intelligent design. God created us for physical and spiritual worship. We were given the gift of passion for love by God so we can experience spiritual growth, and expand our trust in Him. The truth is in the Bible, as this is the Word of God. If we continue to have faith in God’s truth, and develop through our experiences, and our lives aren’t full of inconsistencies, God will redeem us.

The Wesleyan quadrilateral is a four-source system of theological understanding of the Christian faith. It provides us with a bridge to help us carry over Christian beliefs into the world, to asses our beliefs when making life decisions. The four sources are Scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. Scripture is the foundation of our faith and is the understanding of the will of God. We can interpret tradition, reason, and experience through scripture. Scripture is always the starting point of evaluating truth and is the foundation by which reason, tradition, and experience are evaluated (Wesleyan-Scripture, 2013, p. 1).
Tradition provides us with the wisdom of the past to help guide us today.
Tradition can sometimes inadvertently corrupt the truth because of diverse opinions or errors in the interpretation of scripture. Reason is the ability to judge the credibility of all interpretation, and applying the truth accurately. Reasoning is a wholesome function the Lord has provided us with in order to make godly choices in our lives. Experience is the understanding that holds us accountable for God’s grace. Our experiences are the primary source of how we understand God. It is real and powerful, and has a strong influence on how we interpret Scripture, tradition, and reason. When we are faced with important decisions in our lives we need to critically think about before taking action. To avoid failure it is best to take decisions in an organized way. Through the next six steps we can analyze our situation so the outcome can be a successful decision. Step one; describe the present situation. You will need to evaluate the perspective for making your decision, including factors that influence your observations, gathered data, and resources for developing your description.

And always be aware of the crucial themes of Scripture; creation and fall, sin and grace, justification and sanctification, redemption and reconciliation.
Step four; integrate the Christian view and other intellectual disciplines. Don’t be self-righteous when noting other points of views. Integrate secular and Christian approaches when possible. Step five; develop a new action. Deliberately and intentionally make changes to the situation. You are creating a new vision, think of possible results. Develop goals that will lead to the accomplishment of you specific vision. Step six; evaluate the outcomes. What consequences can I expect, and could they be intentional, and to what extent. And you have to think that if the new outcome does not satisfy than a new course of action may be needed.
We need to carry through our lives these kind of decision making tools. It gives us the strength as a Christian to make decisions based on a strong theological grounding. As a Christian we need to incorporate God into every aspect of our lives. God has given us the knowledge to become believers of his Word, through His actions, and we must in turn do the same for Him. Whether as humans we make the right decision or not it is God who truly knows our intentions.
Spiritual formation is the growth and development of the whole person by an intentional focus of one’s spiritual and interior life, interaction with others in ordinary life, and spiritual practices. Spiritual formation is the process of spiritual shaping and growth. It is about the spiritual growth in our lives for God’s plan of sanctification, through the works of the Holy Spirit. As believers of Christ we are to incorporate into our lives disciplines and practices, Bible study, worship, prayer, discipleship, and service to better focus on the understanding of the Lord and His truth. Many years ago I thought I was going in the right direction, but I got frustrated and decided I was getting off the ride. In the last 3 years things have changed me. I have once again given my heart back to Christ. With a new found hope given to me by other Christians that have the passion to serve, I now have that passion to want to be transformed into a person of God’s will. The ultimate spiritual life is “to learn from God to live like Jesus” (Ortberg, 1997, p. 21).
I certainly have not mastered very many of Ortberg’s Spiritual Disciplines, which are the discipline of celebration, slowing, prayer, servant hood, practice of confession, receiving guidance from the Holy Spirit, practice of secrecy, reflecting on Scripture, developing your own “Rule of Life”, and experiencing suffering. Spiritual disciplines require training, giving everything you got, all the time.
Each one of us are given spiritual gifts meant to be graces from God. Spiritual gifts are intended to help us serve others, to become more like God. We need to understand what our spiritual gifts are in order to allow us to have spiritual growth. You are to contribute to Christian life with the understanding that there is a purpose for you. Faith is an important element in Christian life, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
In just the first eight weeks attending a Christian based college, I have really been able to open my heart and mind to so many new ideas of academics and especially Christian faith. We have been given from the beginning the foundation of faith. This experience will give me the wisdom and strength as a Christian to build a life foundation based on knowledge through that faith. Knowing the truths that God has put before me gives inspiration to learn spiritually and academically. I want to be a truly educated person, committing to serve God spiritually, morally, and intellectually. We make ourselves to busy with things that don’t matter as much as God being present in our lives. It interrupts what we should be aiming for, a relationship with God in all aspects of our lives. That is a huge step for me which I never would have been doing in my life, integrating faith with learning. It just make me realize faith should be integrated in all we do. With an education influenced by God’s biblical truth you will have a greater impact on your future. We are all called to do the Lords work, and that doesn’t mean it will make it easier but we can make a difference by integrating God’s Word in our life journey. References
