On our visit to the Hospital in November, we were able to see the Pathology Department. There are a couple of process that are done in order to get a diagnosis. First the surgeon sends a piece of organ ,so the nurses can cut samples tissue. Then the samples are cut until the piece are extremely thin and coated in wax to be observed under a microscope. Across from this room we got to hold the organs that had not yet been cut to be examined. Among the hundreds of organs in that room we touched and examined: an uterus, a colon with a tumor, and a brain that had a stroke that was cut into pieces and had a blood clot. As our journey continued we went to see the Nursery. We were not allowed to get very close, but we were able to see how the modern technology gave prematures babies a greater chance to live. The last department that our group visited was Radiology. This impressive room had a cat- scan bed. Here we saw how they stuck up in a leg , through an artery a long tube into the heart. This process emits fluid and on X -ray they can see if you in good condition. One of the things that we saw there, was a little film on the screen of somebody’s heart who was healthy. As we were getting ready to leave, we went down to the waiting room and saw the old time doctor’s equipment like: tongs, bullets, safety pin, and outfits. This experience gave me the opportunity to see how medicine works, and how everything gets done with the work of a team that is willing to help people who are sick. .
