Five Star Street Food
What happens when you have low quality paired with five stars? Well, you get something some people absolutely adore and something some people absolutely hate. Think about what would happen if you pair reading with writing. The result is mixed emotions, as some people love it, while others don’t. And that is exactly why I don’t read or write! Actually, let me rephrase that: “And that is exactly why I don’t prefer to read or write.” Strange, no? However, I love reading for informational purposes, especially in order to advance my own goals. Some may call it selfish, but I call it resourcefulness. But the truth is, I’m interested in what I read because it is pertinent to my areas of interest, those being electronics, money, and technology. Some may call it very stereotypical of me to be reading such “guyish” material, but heck, I am a guy.
That being said, three areas of interest are way too many subjects to be reading about all at once. So, I put them all together into one, collective passion: business. Not only does business involve the three aforementioned topics, I adore the concept itself. I plan to go into business after my collegiate studies. Now you may be wondering what “Five Star Street Food” and “low quality paired with five stars” has anything to do with this, but that right there, ladies and gentlemen, is my future. Just keep reading. The whole business passion started on a trip to Cancún, México. On my visit there, I dined at many famous restaurants, but the ones that really stood out were those that not only had high quality, not to mention safe food, but cheap and authentic food as well. That one luminous, brilliant idea all started right there. I realized that not only would cheap, high quality food be a great idea, but that I really do like cooking; hence, I decided that I shall establish my own restaurant franchise.
The Business plan on "Fast Food Nation" By Eric Schlosser
In his book “Fast Food Nation”, Eric Schlosser shows how the fast food industry has infiltrated every corner of American Society. He tells of the disturbing reality that is American life today; almost every aspect of American life has been franchised or chained. Beginning in California and spreading throughout the entire country, Schlosser gives the history of the fast food industry ...
Since the ingenious idea began, I have been reading hundreds of articles about new and creative restaurants. I often read newspapers, magazines, and online articles relevant to my passion. Often times these readings include magazines such as Forbes, Business Week, etc. Normally I’d have no reason to read all of this educational, adult, and grown-up type content, but hell, it sure is helpful. One can argue that an eleventh grader should be reading all of the above regardless of interest, but honestly, I’m not much of a reader.
Nonetheless, applying the concepts attained from reading will not only advance my own goals, but will aid in planning, goal setting, and future implementation. In order to plan ahead for this restaurant of mine, reading is essential. All of the articles and such provide me with a sense of reality. Soon after comes the goal setting of my plans. The never ending success stories of restaurants such as Chipotle, McDonalds, and Chick-fil-A often discussed in the text that I read provide for a sound basis on which to set goals. The articles repeatedly offer ideas from other businesses, which I, in turn, incorporate into my own upcoming restaurant. And finally comes the future implementation. The carrying through of the restaurant is where all the money is! Gathering all the ideas, concepts, and insight gained from reading, I will put together the ultimate; if not best restaurant mankind has seen to date.
Now all these plans may seem absolutely wonderful, but what exactly is all this informational reading building up to? Well, as you may have already guessed: A five star street food restaurant! Yes, you read it correctly. And don’t even think about stealing the idea. (No, really, don’t).

If I am to open a new, unbranded restaurant, then it is imperative that the concept be unique and creative.
To make it even better, a majority of these ideas for the restaurant have come from reading! It is quite simple really. Essentially, all I’m doing is taking the best of both worlds, the cheap, authentic flavors of street food, and the high quality image from five star foods. And like I’ve said before, those ideas also came from reading. Not only did reading provide the chance to gain knowledge, but it allowed me to compare concepts side by side, pointing out the benefits and downsides of restaurants. Perhaps most importantly, reading taught me what one must do in order to take him or herself to the top: be different.
And there it is, my passion all started from reading, and at the same time, it ingeniously allowed me to put others’ ideas into my own collective pot of ideas. Whether it be because of my purpose or interest, reading the newspapers, magazines, and online articles helps me to further my own goals.
