Introduction:
Different mango varieties naturally produce fruit every other year. That is, there are years or seasons in which a tree or the crop may be very not efficient, producing almost no fruits. For trees to be productive annually, flower inducers are used to stimulate flower growth during the ‘off’ seasons of the tree variety. Inducers increase number of viable blooms for increased production and harvest. Inducers work best on healthy, mature trees under 10-yr-old. In the flower induction trial, 2% KNO3 (Potassium nitrate) was used. It is a flower inducer which contains potash and nitrogen for rapid growth of the flower.
It was sprayed on the shoots of the Carabao mango tree with mature leaves. On the other hand, a control wherein pure water was sprayed was provided. This trial, if turned out well, should show significance of flowering even in off-season. Observation was done 14 days after spraying. Materials and Procedure:
*potassium nitrate/ KNO3, sprayer, pail, pitcher, tags, pentel pen, and water a. Selection of Carabao mango tree shoots with healthy mature leaves b. Spraying of 2% KNO3 until dripping-wet then tagging (KNO3 treated) c. Selection of Carabao mango tree shoots with healthy mature leaves on a different tree d. Spraying the shoots with plant water. This will be the control without KNO3 treatment. e. Observe after 14 days.
The Term Paper on 'The House On Mango Street' By Sandra Cisneros
Sandra Cisneros has spent a lifetime trying to discover her own literary voice, only to be drowned out by the mostly white and mostly white voices that she imitated but never identified with. The only daughter in a family with six sons, Cisneros was often the “odd-woman-out-forever” early on in life. It was not until she was enrolled in the Iowa Writers Workshop that she finally ...

After 14 days, KNO3 treated shoot showed no significance. This may be due to the expected rainfalls during that week of KNO3 treatment. The inducer may possibly be washed off when it rained leaving no effect on the shoot. Thus, absorbance of chemicals was restricted. Conclusion
In flower induction of mango trees, the following must be considered: 1) mango variety and flowering seasons, 2) flower inducers to be used, 3) dosage of the inducers given the present condition and physical appearance of the shoots/trees, and 4) spraying time and environmental factors. In the trial, flower induction became unsuccessful for the rainfall that had occurred affected the flowering response of the Carabao mango tree.
Thus, flowering induction won’t be ensured if spraying was done in a short span of time before a climatic occurrence that may restrict the whole trial. But, as studied, there are still forms of flower induction that may be applied aside from spraying KNO3. Mango trees may still be induced during its off-season.
