foreign language Instruction
American schools have Math, science, and history as priority subjects.
However, foreign languages have always been considered an elective or unnecessary subject in order to graduate from school. I think that American schools should make foreign language instruction a priority because people with a second or third language are more successful in the work force, students who start learning a foreign language at school have higher SAT scores than students who only speak one language, and a second language is always good to communicate with people from different cultures.
American schools should make foreign language instruction a priority because students with a second or third language are more successful getting jobs in the future. Companies are hiring personnel who have different skills from a regular worker. A foreign language can give the person a step forward from other people who are applying for the same job. For instance, my cousin just graduated from college in November 2011. He speaks French, Spanish and English. His career was Business Management, and now he got an incredible job in a huge company in Manhattan. He learned two foreign languages when he was a child. He told me that when he did the interview the man who asked him questions was really amazed that he could speak three languages. Therefore, I think, he had a good reason to be chosen from the other people who wanted the job.
The Term Paper on Language And Communication Social People Talk
SYNOPSIS: Human language is a unique communication system which is different from that of other species. It is so complex and perfect that people couldn! t help wondering where it comes from. It is believed that language is part of our essential human nature and is therefore neither invented nor handed down as a gift. All humans are innately or genetically equipped with a unique language learning ...
Moreover, studies have shown that students who start a second or third language at school have better SAT scores and learning skills. As all of us know, when children start to learn their brain is more capable of understanding and memorizing information. For example, last semester I went to a conference in Manhattan, which was called “Learning and the Brain”. The conference was about the functions of the human brain; it was explaining how bilingual children at the age of 5-18 show more cognitive benefits than children who only speak one language.
Finally, learning a foreign language in school is always good for communicating with people from different countries. In my experience, I have been learning English since I was 6 years old. I started learning a foreign language when I was in first grade. Now, I conceder myself able to communicate with people whose native language is not mine. I feel really good that I learned a second language in school; it is easier for me than from people who just started learning it in college.
In conclusion, American public schools should make foreign language a required subject because school is a great time to acquire a new language with all of its uses later in life. Therefore, It provides the students better opportunities to be successful in different aspects. In sum, I am committed more than ever to encourage every parent around me to help spread the news of the importance of learning more than one language in childhood when children are at school.
