SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS WEEK ONE PAGE 2
The word myth is used in a popular way because myths are ancient narratives that attempt to answer the enduring and fundamental question: How did the universe and the world come to be (Leonard and McClure, 2004)? Myths that are studied academically are done so to help better understand the anthropology of past cultures. Myths reflect human nature, with its needs and desires, hopes and fears (Rosenberg, 2006).
A myth in my own definition is a story that has some tell of the truth but the story is mostly made up of false tell and very little fact. A myth is also a story that may have been passed down from generation to generation that helps to tell the story of how we should interact amongst one another and to teach morals as well. Most myths come from varied heritages and are pasted down from generation to generation. I believe most myths have been told so many times over the years that there is no way to determine their true origin and if they are true or false.
I believe myths from different cultures around the world address such similar or universal themes is because, all cultures want answers to the same questions. Such as how did we come here? Who are we? What are our proper, necessary, or inescapable roles as we relate to one another and to the large world (Leonard and McClure, 2004)? This brings me to think of the Greek gods and the mythology behind the stars. Since long ago, people around the world have associated the heavens, the stars, and the patterns they make in the sky with their gods and goddesses. Then decades later the Indians were known to use the myths of the stars to relate to their gods and heavens as well. To the current day individuals and groups use the stars in the same manner and that is to relate the gods and heavens above just like it has been known to do by man kind since the beginning.

SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS WEEK ONE PAGE 3
The relationship between belief, knowledge, mythology, and religions is the matter of fact and fiction and that they were all created by man. Belief and knowledge is somewhat easier to define with fact and fiction but in order to understand mythology and religion you have to have both belief and knowledge as well as be aware of fact and fiction. I personally believe that most religious stories are based from mythological tales. For example in the Christian bible for which I am a follower and believer there is a story about a God that parts the seas. To me this is a mythical story that makes up a huge matter of knowledge for the believers in the religion. Where mythology and religion diverge is with the belief in more than one God.
In mythology a totem, star, or any other living organism can be a God but with religion there is only one God and idolizing false Gods is forbidden. I also think that people like to try and find the fact with religion more so than with mythology. To defend mythology’s relevance in contemporary culture we have to think about how religion and government are being segregated within the public school system and so one subject that has not shown relevance to deny do to religion is Greek mythology. Greek mythology is not only a part of history but its tales also helps to understand our future in regards to the moral belief that is trying to be portrayed but even where written mythology has helped the legend of mythology the arts of mythology is what proves record of the myth and the legend. Petroglyphs, stone carvings, and even tombs are all arts that help the human experience the facts of mythology. When considering how mythology is used in advertising I would say turn on the television and watch the commercials for a few minutes and you will be shown the Greek God’s of advertisement. Midas, Trojan, Amazon, and Nike are just a few of the major corporations that have taken the brand or trade name of Greek Gods.
