Physical Factors
These are medical and illness related factors:
Colds and flu – cause a shortness of breath and feelings of fatigue
Asthma – affects breathing if not properly controlled
Hayfever – causes your nose to run and makes you sneeze and cough, affecting your breathing
Fatigue – not having enough rest or overdoing things can cause you to feel permanently tired
Lack of sleep – not enough sleep means you can’t concentrate properly and feel weak and tired
Physical ability – your training, fitness and skill levels will all impact on your performance
Psychological Factors
These are factors related to the way you are thinking and your state of mind
Mental preparation – relaxation techniques and imagery can help prepare the athlete for competition
Mental ability – your ability to concentrate and make good decisions
Experience – a more experienced competitor will know how to prepare themselves mentally
External Factors
These are things largely beyond our control:
Environment – the weather can affect your performance either positively or negatively. For example a good wind will improve a sailors performance but may impair a tennis players performance

Equipment – better equipment will help your performance, but even then sometimes equipment can go wrong!
Technology – the use of technology in sport is increasing with the use of better equipment and video and computer technology for technique analysis
Other players – an opponent’s or team mates performance can have an effect on our own. For example a team mate performing well may inspire us to do the same
Officials – a poor decision from an umpire or referee can either spur us on to perform better or make us think there is no point trying.
Types of practice:
The types of practice you chooses all depend on the skill you wish to learn. I have picked trapping and passing and so you will do drills to help you learn that skill better and with practice you will be able to do the skill with ease. I do not play futsal and so I have only learned on drill to help me learn this skill but the skill its self is rather easy and this drill helped me learn it faster then I normally would.
Okay, first off all you need for this drill is a ball, 2 HPE cones and a friend. Place the cones about 5 meters apart from each other and then pass the ball to your friend on the other side of them. He should trap the ball and then pass back to you. See how long you can keep it going before you pass outside the cones or mess up.

1. **Plant leg position*:
Place your plant leg about a foot away from the ball.
2. Ankle Position*:**
Keep your ankle locked. Unlike shooting, passing requires that you keep your toes up parallel to the ground. No more balls going over your foot.
3. **Knee Position:**
Both your plant knee and your passing knee should be slightly bent. This will ensure that you have good balance.
4. **Body Position*:
Keep your knee and body over the ball. This will ensure that the pass will stay on the ground. If you lean back the ball go up in the air.

Mental rehearsal involves imagined, mental practice of performing a task as opposed to actual practice. That is, when engaging in mental rehearsal, one imagines performing without having to actually do anything. As the saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.” Yes, practice can cause improvement, but “perfect practice” can lead to better results than practice full of failures.
Because mental practice is perfect practice, it is also a confidence-booster. Experiencing success increases confidence, even if that experience is imagined. Basketball fans recognize the old cliché that goes something like, “Free throw shooting is 90% mental, 10% physical.” it’s true that a major determinant of a free throw shooter’s success is his or her mental activity before taking a shot and through the process of shooting (I’m not sure about those percentages though).
