Gay Rights
There has been debate against and for gay marriages for centuries. Some say they are for it, and some say they are against it. Coming from a fellow lesbians’ perspective; I am one of those that is for legalizing gay rights. The myths that have been spread are ridiculous. Most of them come from very religious individuals; others come from homophobic individuals who don’t believe in it. The pros for same sex marriage are wonderful. There are many reasons why same sex relationships should be legal.
As I said, the myths of this topic are appalling. The first is that gays have a choice to be gay or straight. That is a lie. Gays are most definitely born that way. No one can make someone choose to be with the same sex. It’s something you figure out about yourself as you’re growing up. Sometimes things change, sometimes it’s just a stage, and sometimes it’s who you really are. There also have been myths that gays and lesbians are the cause of AIDS. The cause of AIDS was long before gays and lesbians were here. AIDS was mainly from doing drugs with unsterilized needles. Gays should not be held responsible for a major disease which in fact has killed over 21.8 million people. Some say that one’s sexual orientation determines their education and their choice of career and whether or not they can make it. Someone shouldn’t have to hide who they are from the world just to get a decent job, that’s not how the world should be nowadays. The people say that The United States is a free country, but frankly, that doesn’t sound too free to me. I personally want a job in the criminal field. If me being a lesbian determines whether I get that job or not, then I believe that they don’t deserve to have someone like myself to be working for them. There have been rumors that gay marriage is not a healthy marriage. Well, they’re wrong. Just because a marriage contains two of the same sex does not mean it can’t be a healthy marriage. Some say it’s better than a heterosexual marriage. I believe both can be equally healthy in every way possible. There have been articles about church priests who are forced to perform the gay marriage. Actually, it is proven that nobody has to do what they don’t want to do. Legally. These people do not have to perform the marriage if they don’t wish to.
The Term Paper on Impact of Gay Marriage on Children
Take a look at the picture of a gay and a lesbian couple (see Figure 1). Long ago people would have raised their eyebrows and glared at such obvious display of affection between two men and two women. They would have scurried away and cursed them who engaged in activities that compromise morality. They would have felt anger to know that a man would even think of marrying another man or a woman to ...
The whole reason I am writing this is to talk about the pros of gays and lesbians and their rights to love whom they wish to love. The first thing is that denying gays is a violation of religious freedom and it is a form of minority discrimination. Marriage should be available to all couples. Not just straight people. It can be man and women, man and man, or woman and woman. Love is love; no one should have to be forced to hide who they are. Homosexuality is an accepted life style nowadays with most evidence strongly supporting biological causation. One of the most important pros of this topic is that being gay does not hurt anyone or society. Homophobia hurts people. As for the most important, that would be that the only thing that should matter in a marriage is love. Love matters to all aspects. Not just in heterosexual ones. The number of child adoptions should increase since gay couples cannot pro-create. It also encourages people to have strong family values and give up high-risk sexual lifestyles. The same financial benefits that apply to man-woman marriages apply to same sex marriages. The child/spouse abuse rate is lower in same sex marriages. It has been proven that same sex marriages have less intensity in their relationship than heterosexual relationships.

Divorce rate for same sex marriages does not exist. There has been one same sex divorce and that was the first same sex marriage ever to happen. As for what I’ve been trying to say throughout this whole paper; same sex marriages, relationships, what have you, they are just as equal as heterosexual marriages. I, for one, plan to be happy as I get older. With the same girl I am with now. There is no amount of lust in this relationship. Lesbians and gays have been fighting for their rights to be accepted by the world for hundreds of years. I am not ashamed to be who I am. In the least little bit. I was born in this world for a reason and I plan to do what I was made to do and I believe that is to be happy however way I am.
