My favorite genre is R&B. Every genre has their own unique twist to it but I think what makes mine unique is the effect is has on people. R&B makes one want to move and dance to the beat of the music. It gives life to the ambience and it brings people to have a new personality. I personally find that it brings me up when I’m down. I find it very similar to hip-hop but R&B is a mixture of different genres which includes hip-hop in the mix. The artist that came to mind to associate R&B with is Beyonce.
It only seems appropriate to talk about Beyonce because she is one of my favorite artists and today she managed to pull of the stunt of the century by surprising us all with her brand new secret album that no one was expecting. I find her extremely powerful and she has a great effect on one with the music that she produces no matter what the song is about. Whether it was with her group, Destiny’s Child or on her own as a solo artist Beyonce definitely conveys a message in her lyrics and with the beat of the songs. Beyonce fits into the genre because the songs that she produces are a mixture of rhythm and blues, pop, soul, funk, and hip hop.
classical music is a calming soothing type of music in my personal opinion. I am not too familiar with the artist in the classical genre but after listening to some pieces in this class I became fascinated with classical piano music. Therefore I added a Pandora station and one artist who I happen to see quite frequently was Mozart. As I did a little research I learned he was a composer for a piano quartet. Two songs that he composed that I stumbled across were “An die Freude” and “Dans un bois solitaire. ” Classical music is fascinating to me.
The Essay on Great Filipino Music Artists (80’s – Present)
Basil Valdez Like many Filipino singers in the 1970s, Valdez started solo on his career as a folk singer. In 1972, he joined the Circus Band and after it was disbanded, he released Ngayon at Kailanman, his first solo album. In the Circus Band, he met Ryan Cayabyab, who was then part of other band. When Valdez was preparing his album Ngayon at Kailanman, he asked Cayabyab to give a few songs, he ...
I find it extremely interesting because I find it amazing that music such as this can convey such powerful emotions without any lyrics. That’s very difficult to do with the modern music seeing as how the song is now based more on the lyrics than the rhythm or the beat of the music. It carries your mind to a variety of places and it lets you explore new thoughts. This is definitely a genre that I like but mainly the piano classical music. Opera, on the other hand, is not a favorite of mine. It does not catch my attention as I come across is so it is not a genre that I have spent a lot of time listening to or have much experience with.
I actually don’t find hear someone’s voice such as in opera relaxing so it doesn’t compare to the emotions that classical music makes me encounter. I have of course heard it a few times as I was growing up because my parents favor some opera music. They happen to love and they have gone to see Andrea Bocelli. Bocelli is an Italian opera singer who has a very strong voice. Two of his songs are “The Prayer” and “Amore. ” My opinion on opera music is that the emotion that it brings to the listener is sort of stressful. I think that the reason for that is that the voices are too loud and too strong.
I prefer soft songs with a more peaceful voice or maybe no singing at all. Broadway is another genre of music that is also popular. Although Broadway also contains a strong voice in their music, I enjoy it more than opera because it tells a story. This genre tells stories through the words that are being sung and there is usually acting that accompanies it. It’s more than just a song. It is a story. I’m not too familiar with artists from this genre but after some research I found many famous Broadway singers but not many of the composers of the songs that are sang.
The Essay on Music Genre 2
We take sounds and create the music we hear every day. Our development on music is effected by people around us. We take the context of songs and relate it back to our own lives. People dislike certain types of music because they can’t relate or enjoy the sound. Although music affects us all differently, all melodies have a similar meaning. Everyone’s choice of music is greatly affected by ...
I think the emotions perceived by this type of music all depends on the story that is being shared through the song. It is not my favorite genre but I do enjoy it from time to time. Country is one of my all-time favorite genres. There is so much variety in this genre and you can do so much with these type of songs. There is also a lot of storytelling in this and you can tell stories about almost anything. I love the feeling that this music gives you. Of course, depending on the songs, you can feel either emotion or excitement or you can also share the pain and sadness that they are describing in the song.
There are also many different type of country artists. Some artist are hardcore country and that’s all there is to it. Others try to mix in pop but lose the true essence of the country music. One country artist I like is Johnny Cash. I discovered him after being shown the movie based on his life in a class that discussed substance abuse as we watched Johnny Cash’s struggle. After that I fell in love with his song, “I Walk the Line. ” There is also the song “Hurt” which is another one that I enjoy by him. His music in specific is relaxing to me but it brings joy. He has a soothing voice and the beat of his music is fun and happy.
Disco music is upbeat dancing music from the 70s. I enjoy this music because you can belt out into song and sing the song or just stand up and dance along to the rhythm. After watching the movie Momma Mia I learned of Abba and the song I enjoy most is “Dancing Queen. ” Disco I think has a lot of emotion tied into it. It brings a person joy listening to it and it changes the mood of the person just like R&B. This genre though shares more of a joyous feeling than of a powerful feeling like R&B. There’s nothing specifically to point out that I don’t like from this genre. Rap music is another genre that I do not enjoy.
In rap music the words are too quick and not clear enough to quite understand what one is saying. You lose the point of the song when too many people such as myself cannot fully understand what they are revealing through this song. I like a few songs of this genre but for the most part I do not enjoy it. My favorite artist of this genre at the moment is Drake. He’s very popular and well known. My favorite song by Drake is “Hold on, We’re going home. ” I like this song because his voice is more edvident than most artists who sing rap and who you have not the slightest idea of what they’re singing about.

Beatles Music: Songs of the Counterculture The 1960's are thought of by many to be the most eventful and changing decade in the history of America. http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=GxgqpCdOKak This song actually does cheer me up and it’s a fun song to sing along to and join. Lastly, I found a very interesting genre that I wanted to share which is Metalachi. I thought you might enjoy it. It’s pretty odd. It is a mixture of metal with mariachi. Now there are two different genres that I do not enjoy at all. I find metal music and mariachi music too overwhelming. As I previously mentioned, I prefer soft music with more soothing voices of no voices at all.
The volume of the singers’ voices in these genres and the instruments used are too overwhelming for me personally and I feel like I can’t truly enjoy the music. This band uses the instruments of a mariachi band but they increase the speed and they sing like as if they were to be singing metal music. Here is a music video that demonstrates this genre. http://www. youtube. com/watch? v=g_5y5KrBoO8 I still find the music too overwhelming and it produces in me an emotion of frustration but it’s different so I thought it was something that people might enjoy one day.
