Girls in Tears is the fourth book in the ‘Girls’ series by Jacqueline Wilson. It’s all about love, friendship and everyday life as a teenage girl. It’s good as I can relate to the characters in the book easily and know how they feel! The title suggests it is an emotional book, which I thought was interesting.
This book is about a girl called Ellie and her two best friends Magda and Nadine. They do everything together but each of them are in their own little worlds. Ellie’s loved up with her new boyfriend Russel, Nadine is in love with a boy from the internet and Magda is mourning over her dead hamster. With each of them off in their own little worlds, misunderstandings start to happen and the girls go their separate ways. Ellie’s relationship with Russel seems to be falling apart, Magda’s still mourning over her dead hamster and starts being nasty to Ellie, and Nadine doesn’t listen to the dangers Ellie has told her about the boy from the internet… Magda and Nadine separate one way and Ellie the other. But later on in the book, everything works out in the end and they are best friends again. The last chapter is called “Girls cry when everything ends happily ever after”.
Ellie is my favourite character as she the main character of the book and tells the story like it is. She is a sensitive fourteen year old and has to face different problems such as boyfriend trouble, friendships, jealousy and family problems. Jacqueline Wilson wanted to make Ellie “lively, creative and very good at art. She didn’t want her to be a “super-girl with a fabulous figure and absolutely everything going for her. She decided Ellie would be “and ordinary comfy sized girl”
The Essay on Gossip Girl Book 1
In this first novel, life is beautiful for our teens from the Upper East Side of Manhattan. They " re rich, they " re beautiful, and they know it. Blair Waldorf is the ringleader of the crew, which includes her handsome but weak-hearted boyfriend, Nate. This femme fatale in training relishes her role and is confident that she and Nate will be together forever. Then the teen every girl loves to ...
Jacqueline Wilson uses everyday words adding her own made up words to make it more “fun”. She uses words that teenage girls understand to get the message across it is Ellie’s mind you are reading.
Each of the chapters are named to do with “girls in tears” either meaning happy tears or sad tears. One is named, “Girls cry when people copy their ideas”, while another is called, “Girls cry when their dreams come true!” Each chapter title sets the mood for what’s to come in that chapter, which I think is very clever and interesting.
