Approach in Explaining the Gospel 19 IX. Pauls Theology and the Church20 X. Conclusion22 I. Introduction It is said that a post-modern society is basically a society of tolerance. This is a society that is characterized by individual autonomy. Its proponents anticipate a society where there is a respect for diversity both in law and in the habits of its citizen.
A post-modern society embraces all lifestyle decisions and is regarded as a society of tolerance. A post-modern society and the fundamental principles of the gospel, are therefore regarded as intrinsically the same. The post-modernism arose from the philosophies of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, and Jean-Paul Sartre. For Hegel and Nietzsche, reality is in a pure state of becoming. This is the premise from where all things emanate from. Nietzsche argued that being is permanency (that which does not change).
There is nothing permanent and reality is therefore ongoing and evolving. This means that there is no being but only becoming. All are changing and Nietzsche even stated that all are changing and it is only language that provides the illusion of permanency or being. That, it necessarily follows that if all are changing, then, it is impossible to know anything at all. Knowledge here means the classical meaning of knowledge. Thus, if there is really no-thing outside the mind to comprehend, then, all the passes for knowledge like science is just a human construct.
The Term Paper on A Post-Modern Age?

If knowledge depends upon being, then it is all an illusion II. Role of Religion in Civilization Religion, since the dawn of civilization, has played an important role in society. It serves as a moral compass for people of different nationality and culture. Its very definition of right and wrong is based on what orthodox religion dictates. But given its benefits, it too has its own downside. The history of religion is made up of adversity between different faiths.
The crusades in the Medieval Ages were not only shrouded by political struggles but religious conflicts as well. The rise of religious extremism at present, is a conflict of faith. The differences of belief, and its perception of morality, have been more a cause of anonymity than of unity. Religious pluralism is sometimes used as a synonym for interfaith movement. Interfaith dialogue refers to dialogue between members of different religions with the goal of reducing conflicts between their religions and to achieve agreed upon mutually, desirable goals. Proponent of such train of thought would argue that religion is not the word of God, as some would insist, but merely mans interpretation of Gods words.
Given mans finite and fallible nature, it is bound to be misinterpreted. In such case, factions of different religion find common grounds rather than disparities But how is it applicable to the present scenario? How does it relate with the gospel? Tolerance for the diversity of faiths, some contend, would lessen religious conflict. But one must then admit that in so depriving objectivity, one would lose its appeal to the masses for not only is religion a personal choice but also a social and culture driving force as well. By stripping it of its local appeal, one would find it alien and less acceptable. Despite the promises it brings, religious pluralism and interfaith movement are bound to fail. Such polarization of beliefs is hard to breach and impossible to reconcile.
Only the eradication of such religious barriers will conflict of such nature be dealt with. III. Influence of the Gospel Religion perhaps is one of the strongest influences that pervade society in general. History and society has consistently shown the impact of religion on various aspects of mans way of life his values, perceptions, attitudes, behavior, and thought-processing. Since the early days of man, many kinds of religions have spread throughout the world. Some of these world-renowned religions include Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism among others. Despite differences in faith, beliefs, and practices, religions seem to strike a very strong chord in every man.
