Mississippi offers many different informational databases on the different types of services available to individuals who live in the state. There is a specific division set up for assistive technology within the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services, this service offers resources to the community about assistance in home and work environments. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality offers information about Mississippi’s quality of healthcare, the positive and negative aspects and shows the information about where they need to better improve services in the state. I believe that offering up more information to the public would enhance the availability of knowledge to families and individuals with different disabilities. It can be difficult to determine what options are out there so even a flyer to show something new that is being researched is beneficial. Sending out advertising on social media is also a good way to spread the word, almost everybody knows someone who uses some form of social media, spreading the different resources out there to friends and family is a good way to provide that information. With assistive technology available and growing, people who cannot walk are able to walk, use their body parts that they were unable to before the assistive technology. Promoting this is important for people who need help just to live their life as close to normal as possible, just being able to function a percentage would make some of the people so happy, funding for this should be passed everywhere so that disabled individuals can contribute more to their communities instead of being stuck.
