Hibernation Vs. Migration
This paper is on migration verses hibernation and which one I believe is better. I
will tell you of some of the facts of migration and hibernation, so that you will be able to
decide which you believe is better. There are many animals who hibernate but they are
divide into two categories , they are mammals and reptiles. There are also two type of
hibernation. The two types are Pure Hibernation and Hibernation. Pure Hibernation is
when the animal is near or like death which occurs in reptiles such as snakes. Hibernation
is where the animals metabolism slows way down and the animal may wake up during his
hibernation.
An example of Hibernation would be a ground squirrel going underground during
the winter season, then reduce its body temperature within a few hours then the squirrel
would become dormant. The animal exits hibernation when it gets a large burst of
metabolic energy which warms the body and causes the squirrel or other animal to emerge
form hibernation. Earlier it was said that some animals waken during the hibernation and
feed and relieve themselves of bodily fluids. An example of this would be a bear. The
will hibernate during the winter, but they may wake up to feed, and then they would go
back to hibernation.
The Essay on Social and Economic Implications of Diseases in Plants and Animals
Social and Economic Implications of diseases in Plants and Animals Plants (Social) There are many social implications of disease in plants. Some of which are: Loss of Productivity and reduced consumption: The diseases that affect the plants make them unable to function properly, which affects their growth processes. They are dangerous to use and this will negatively affect the consumers of these ...
Reptiles enter a state of torpor which is when the animals body temperature is
the same as the enviroment it is in. So if the outside temperature is 100F outside the
reptiles body temperature is 100F. So when the winter seasons come, the reptile or
amphibians body slows down and somewhat freezes causing the reptile to hibernate until
the warmer or and hotter day to speed up its body metabolism and make its body warmer.
Migration is when animals ,usually birds or butterflies something to that sort, make
a major movement away and back to their natural breeding areas. Migration usually
occurs preceding and following breeding seasons. The best known example of migration
are birds, in which a ton of birds move from their summer habitat to their winter habitat.
An example of this would be the swallows of San Juan Capistrano. The swallows from
San Juan travel to South America, near Bolivia, they stay there until their winter comes
then return to San Juan Capistrano. The swallows make nests out of mud and stick and
only make them once. So when they leave and return they expect to see their nests still
there.
So my conclusion is that migration requires much more work and is probably
more dangerous. While hibernation is a time of rest and is probably safer because most
other animals are also hibernating. So I have come to the conclusion that hibernation is
better, and yet if the birds were to hibernate it probably would not suit them so in
conclusion they are good with what they do.
