In the following document I will analyze chapter fourteen from Gordon Korman’s book: Jake Reinvented. In which I will compare and contrast situations and characters from Jake Reinvented and from The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I will also give my personal point of view for some characters and their actions. Conflicts At this point in the story, Todd already knows that her girlfriend Didi had cheated on him with Jake. So Todd crashes Jakes’ party, and starts revealing Jakes’ past to everybody, but as Rick describes it he (Todd) sounds more like a prosecuter than an angry guy at a party.
Todd starts telling everybody that Jake was a nerd, a mathlete and he also belonged to the chess team. He started acussing Jake of thinking he could just show up at F. Scott Fitzgerald High School and start over again. That his past at McKinley was unerasable. Is Todd rieght or wrong? I think Todd doesn’t have any right of saying all those things of Jake, I mean yes her girlfriend was cheating on him, but so was he; and crashing a party and start accusing, and insulting the host is really rude.
He says those things in an act of anger, he thinks just because he is the captain of the football team he has special rights, privilleges, and inmunity to people and problems. Role Reversal Role reversal is really present in this short novel because Jake, from being picked on because of being a “nerd”he ends up being really popular. In highschool you can have a great time, or you can be having a horrible time. Many teens are wishing to have their papers switched, so they could live a popular teens life, and someone popular can live their life.
The Essay on Black Panthers Party
The American dream can just be a simple dream to many Americans particularly for the whites who are employed in some refutable companies. But this is not the case for the African-American. The American dream was simply to own a house and a little plot of land and a clean and descent place to live. Simple as it may sound but the great majority of the African Americans were excluded from that dream. ...
Popularity Popularity is a term that hits everyone differently. Who are those popular kids? What are their attributes? According to research, the popular child has a strong personality while being friendly toward classmates. They’re usually good students who exhibit exemplary social skills, plus they’re able to control their emotions in social settings. However, popular children are not necessarily the most likable kids. More accurately, they’re the ones who are good athletes, school leaders, cooperative, studious, not shy or unassertive.
Researchers describe many unpopular kids in terms of being physically unattractive, seldom displaying positive social interactions and often exhibiting inappropriate behavior. Didi Vs. Daisy In the same party, that same night; Didi hit Nelson in the head with a glass bottle, causing Nelson to lose concious and a minor skull fracture. When the house catches on fire, and the policemen ask who had hit Nelson, Didi didn’t take the blame for it, she had let Jake take the blame for everything. This actions resemble Daisy’s, from: “The Great Gatsby”, actions when Daisy accidently runs over Myrtile.
When George, Daisy’s husband, finds out he just remembers Gatsbys’ yellow car. So therefor he blames Gatsby and kills him. All Daisy does is that she flees the city with her husband Tom. While Daisys’ actions were accidental, and Didis’ actions were for self defense and to defend Rick and Jake, they both were involved and didn’t take the blame. Neither of these girls assumed their consecuences; they just had someone else to take care of their problems. Didi? My personal opinion about Didi is that she is the typical pampered girl that doesn’t assumes consequences.
She thinks just because she is pretty and good looking she deserves everything; she can get everything she wants, and she can flirt with every boy she meets, even though she has a boyfriend. All these actions from above are wrong. If she doesn? t change, she will have to face reality, and Karma will fall really hard on her. Is Jake actually reinvented? Jake keeps calm at all times: when Todd is revealing his past in front of everyone; when he takes the blame for knocking over Nelson; when his house sets on fire; when he goes to jury; etc.
The Essay on Save girl child to save your future
India is growing dynamically in every field. Today, the boom in economy, innovative technologies and improved infrastructure has become nation’s pride. In India dynamic and vibrant universities, I.I.I.T’s, Schools & Colleges were setup to changing the global trends. The country has witnessed advancements in all fields but bias against a girl child is still prevailing in the country. In order ...
Gatsby is also calmed at all moments even after he is shot and killed he looks calm. My personal opinion of Jake is that he has an obsession for Didi. He is not in love, it is not a crush: but an obsession; it’s like if he is trying to prove a point or archive something, not someone. He is not thinking straight. He just wants his life to change, from being the boring “nerd” to the fun guy with great parties’. He shouldn’t have changed for a girl. It’s easier to find a girl that loves you then to change to try and please a girl.
With this I’d like to conclude that a teenager will go to the end of the world just to archive popularity or to change their identity, you are who you are and you should be proud of it. You should never change to get someone to notice you. Never pick on someone because they are smarter or because they don? t have friends. Everyone is different, but everyone deserve respect. I’d like to finish by sharing this quote: “The more you know who you are, and what you want, the less you let things upset you. ” Bob Harris, “Lost in Translation”
