Hocking Hills State Park Hocking Hills State Park is one of the most beautiful national parks in Ohio. It is the place of rugged cliffs, undisturbed forests, and mysterious gorges. It is the synonym to adventure and wildlife. Hocking Hills State Park is the first place on the list to visit (Naturalist Programs & Special Events, 2007).

According to Strategic Plan Update 2006, the primary marketing activity is the operation of the of the Hocking Hills Regional Welcome Center, located in Logan and a secondary Visitor Center located in Laurelville (Hocking Hills Strategic plan Update – 2006, 2006) The distinctive qualities of Hocking Hills State Park create an exceptional environment that requires a special protection. These qualities consist of the character and beauty of landscape, various geological features, clean air, earth and water, sense of wildness, various opportunities for outdoor adventure and recreation, legends and arts, to mention a few. The authorities of the park support plenty of programs related to media and direct marketing programs that are aimed to promote itself and its special activities such as hiking, Hocking Valley Birding Trails, camping, winter hike, and many others. Despite of numerous programs, marketing strategy can be enhanced. Our aim is to propose marketing strategy that will meet the Hocking Hills State Parks aims for 2007 and beyond in order to improve the situation.

Our purpose should embrace two main objectives: to conserve and enhance Hocking Hills State Parks special qualities and to provide opportunities for their understanding and enjoyment. Among other measures the authorities of Hocking Hills State Park can determine the seasonal business activity, support efforts of local organizations in order to build cooperative practices that will be favorable for development of tourism in the area, to engage an outside marketing company, to create various educational programs for the Americans, to promote cultural events and activities in the region, to mention a few.
