How effective are the techniques in the film “Jaws” The film ‘Jaws’ is about a shark that goes about eating some people on the beach. The director of the movie is Steven Spielberg. The film is about a great white shark that goes about terrorising the town Amity Islands. A lot of people go out to kill the shark but the only people who succeed are Quint, Brody, and Hooper. In the movie Steven Spielberg uses different techniques in his direction of the movie camera angles, lighting, sound effects and music. The characterisation in this movie is very effective for Quint and Hooper. Quint is a drunken fisherman and is a bit of a show off. We first see this when we see him in the hall scraping the chalk board to get the people to listen to him about the shark. In the scene he complains about the pay of the killing of the shark and says he will only do it for $10,000. Hooper is a marine biologist who has been studying sharks since he was attacked on his boat. Brody and Hooper go out on hoppers boat and look for the shark but instead they find a little boat drifting in the water Hooper goes out into to the sea in a scuba diving suit and goes under the little boat and finds a tooth of a great White shark Hooper grabs the tooth but he gets a scare when he sees a body pop out of a hole of the boat Hooper screams and drops the tooth of the shark he swims back to his boat to broody.
The Essay on Boat People’
The text makes use of first person throughout, more so in the second half where the generality of the imagery is demonstrated as well as the first mention of an emotion “sorrow”. There is no specific structure maintained across the whole of the text, which allows for a more particular writing style distinctive to the poet. Due to the relatively vexatious tone the poem reads at a steady pace ...
He comes to help chief Brody and Quint catch and kill the shark. The chief and Hooper go on to Quint’s boat and go out to sea to kill the shark. Hooper goes into a metal cage and gets lowered in to the water but to his surprise he gets attacked by the shark. Close up shot was used on the shark luckily he escapes unharmed as he hides behind some rocks. The ship (the Orca) gets destroyed and the chief is still on the boat, he grabs a rifle to blow up the tank in its mouth. At this moment Hooper comes out of the sea and Brody was surprised to see him as he was expecting him to die. The second time we see the shark is when two men are standing on the dock of the island with a hook and chain with a big bit of meat on it. While they wait for any sign of movement all you can hear are the gentile waves tapping the pier and the whistling of the two men. When the shark takes the meat he rips of the pier of the island with one of the men on it. The man swims back to land but you know the shark is turning when you hear the creaking of the pier turning.
The second last scene has a lot of tension and is quite scary considering it was made 30 years ago In the scene Quint would always disagree on what ways to kill the shark. The reason Quint wants to kill the shark so much is because he was on the Indianapolis and got hit by a torpedo and took 12 minutes to sink. The ship he also says that the crew of the ship would huddle up in tight groups because the sharks would come and eat them. The music in this scene is heroic because Brody is the only one left on the ship he takes the gun and aims the rifle at the shark. It takes a few bullets to kill the shark the last shot Brody says “smile you son of a bitch” when he takes the shot he hits the tank in the sharks mouth and it blows at this moment hoper shows up from under the water and Brody is surprised to see him because he thought that he died in the cage the music when the shark goes under the water when it blow up has some sad music showing the respect of the shark for not going down without a fight In The last scene the seagulls show that there was land near to the island the camera angel in this scene is a wide shot when you see them on the wrath swimming to the land Overall i thought it was an ok movie there was a lot of tension in it and the graphics where good for a 30 year movie and the the dead bodies looked realistic In conclusion the director Steven Spielberg had created tension with the camera angels the tense music and the lighting. the movie had grate graphics for its time the movie was well done .
The Essay on Sins and Virtues of Man
There are many sins and virtues attributed to the characters in Eliduc, Everyman, and The Pardoner’s Tale. The characters that I wish to examine for their sins and virtues are those of Eliduc, Guildeluec, Everyman and The Pardoner.
