There are many factors to explain why Hitler became chancellor of Germany in 1933, especially the role of himself and many other significant reasons, which I will explain in this essay.

However, this was mainly enhanced by the Nazi propaganda which focused on Hitler’s youthfulness and his passion for creating the gross Deutschland. Furthermore, the so called end of democracy in Germany, compiled with the weak Weimar government, as seen by the 15 chancellors that Germany had in 14 years, meant that people would look towards the ‘Fuhrer’ and his dictatorship.
Also, in 1933 Hitler was offered the position of vice-chancellor by Hindenburg and Papen who sought to control the Nazis in the government, however Hitler refused and demanded he be made chancellor, they both agreed to appoint Hitler as the chancellor.
On the other hand, the Nazis had a strong base of support as they managed to tackle the burden of unemployment and mainly the protection of small and large business owners from the Jews and communism, as the communists believe that the businesses should be owned by the state ad not for personal gain.

Hitler also used the threat of the SA, Nazi thugs, to create more support and to remove opposition through violence, this became effective to the point that the communist party members were either being imprisoned or murdered, this affected the view of the social democrats as they were focused on the event of a putsch by the Nazis rather than the Nazi party itself.
In conclusion, Hitler’s role was very important in explaining why he was made chancellor as he generated support for the Nazi party through his successful efforts to tackle unemployment and destroy the treaty of Versailles. As well as, the support of industrialists who supplied money to the Nazis cause, however there were many other reasons as to why he was appointed such as the wall street crash and the foolishness of Hindenburg etc.
