For a period of time, I have been thinking about returning back to school to complete my education. I have been in the Administrative/Finance area my entire career. I also have a passion for the Administrative field. I enjoy working with computers and organizing/designing. Recently, I’ve been invited to attend an Executive Administrative Conference, and what an experience. This conference takes place every year on my job, and this year I asked my manager, can I attend. Of course, she agreed and that was all I needed.
I had been geared up about attending the conference since February, when the actual date was on April 19th, 2013. Prior to attending the conference I knew that something great was about to happen to me. I didn’t quite know who, what or when this greatness was going to be revealed, but it was on the day of this conference. On the morning of April 19th 2013, I got up out of bed, said my prayers as normally, and prepared for my day to attend “The Conference”. I got on my regular scheduled bus and rode into Manhattan, then took the New Jersey transit into Newark, NJ. where the conference was held.
Upon arrival, I went up to one of the building where my job is also located in Newark, NJ. They had prepared a vacant office for me to work, until the conference which would begin at noon that day. I had also met two other co-workers at the location, as they too were attending the conference. The speaker Simon T. Bailey touched on every area of thought that I have been struggling with for some time. It was almost as though, he was reading my mind. During the duration of the conference, Simon spoke on his book entitled, The Vuja de Moment which means “already see it before it happens”.

This is the reverse of the French saying Deja vu which means to literally “already seen”. Occasionally, you have to get out of your comfort zone and pursue your goals in life. We must set goals and have a plan and then follow them once we set our goals. During this conference I learned that we must never give up. Always have the determined and the will to keep going. “Just Never Give Up”, that what happened to me. I lost focus for a minute. The conference was so inspiring and inspirational that it never had to end on my account, because he had gained my upmost attention.
The entire concept about attending this conference was as if I had been in fact sleeping on the job, well not literally sleeping on the job, but sleeping when it came to my education. What was about this conference that I felt that I need to be a part of it? Well attending that conference gave me the confident and the answer to the puzzle that was missing in my life for so long. I had put my education on hold for 15 years or more and I need to complete one of the goals in my life that I left incomplete for so many years. The speaker was so dynamic at the conference and he woke up Sleeping Beauty.
Unfortunately, I have been sleeping on my education for far too long. I am very eagere to continue my education. My courage has been renewed. I am also so excited about the fact that I will accomplish another one of my goals in life. I am positive that with the motivation and energy that I have, it will allow me to push forward with the assistance that Corporate College Services, Faculty and Advisors will offer me, I will complete another chapter of my life that I have left on the back burner. That chapter is my continued education.
