The ballots are in and tallied for Newark’s mayor election. After months of campaigning Ivy Adu Poku is the new mayor of Newark New Jersey. A mayor is a very tedious and daunting job that requires leadership and hard work. Every elected person has ambitions. They want positive change for the community and the people in it. I have dreams too, dreams to make a better safer community for everyone. Newark used to be a great place but now all you hear are sirens everyday. I have a vision of making Newark a peaceful place.
As a mayor of Newark I would create a youth program to keep kids off the street. Numerous of gun violence result from kids, teens and young adults. A lot of kids get pressured into taking the wrong path of life due to their personal problems. Youth program will take their mind of negative path and even let them discover their talent. For instance there is a program at student center where student discover their talent. A kid dealing with drug program never thought he was great at playing basketball. During the program, he discovers his talent and stops his negative act. As a result, he won several basketball championships and is reaching success. I will create youth program not only during summer but after school. This will not only make kids successful but also decrease gun violence and death.

As the mayor of Newark I will create more Jobs for teens. As a teen myself from I have witness the difficulty of getting a job. A lot of teens’ families are not financial stable which lead them to a rough path such as selling drugs and so much more. I had a chat with a boy who was selling drugs. I ask him “why the need to sell drugs”? “Why not get a job”? He responded by saying “You do not get it. I have spent my every time searching for a job and none of them are hiring. This is my fast money and if I get a job I will gladly stop”. Jobs will not only prevent teens from selling drugs but also teach them independent, responsibility and money management which lead to future success.

If I were the mayor of Plymouth, Indiana I would work on my many problems. First, I would work to ensure our town’s enjoyment. I would strive to create a prosperous economy. I would also construct more efficient roads, so our community has less potholes. Better roads would help tourism and draw more businesses and industry to our wonderful town.
I would also do the best of my ability to fix the small problems that could turn into large problems. These problems would be similar to something such as littering on the side of a road. They happen way too often, so we should work to fix them. By putting more recycling containers around the city, we could alleviate much of the trash thrown along the roads. Educating the public about going green will help our environment for future generations.
I would work on budgets for city departments, making sure that schools had enough funding for extra-curricular activities. Our schools would be able to support sports, arts, and entertainment. I would make sure we have significant budget for stopping crime…in schools and community. I would budget for more staff to provide faster ambulance responses, so we could take care of injured people swiftly and save more lives.

Mayor’s Essay
f I were mayor, I would make some important changes to our town, Plymouth. I will make our town more “green” and eco-friendly. Solar panels would be installed on the roofs of business buildings to make them self-sufficient, and we will have a volunteer clean-up crew to rid the streets and parks of litter. Windmills will be placed throughout the community, generating energy for street-side lights. Parks will also be re-landscaped and new sidewalks would be put in so people could walk safely. Together, we can contribute to our community.
If it were to cost $0.20 per watt, and every building used 1,000 watts, it would be $200 per building. There are about 300 businesses in Plymouth, so it would cost about $60,000. Although the cost seems high, it would surely reduce electricity prices. Our new volunteer clean-up crew would clean up the parks and streets, making people want to visit. The windmills would produce more than enough electricity for the street-side lights, and with the re-landscaped parks would be more attractive. Sidewalks would make walking in the streets and parks of our town safer, and more people would be inclined to walk, reducing pollution from cars.
Plymouth can become a thriving, eco-friendly, and safe town, but I can’t do it alone. I need your help and inspiration, and most of all, your opinion. Please consider the offer which I propose to our beautiful town of Plymouth, Indiana.
If I Were Mayor
If I, Tressa Ritchie, were mayor I would do everything in power to make Lawrence a better community for everyone. Lawrence is already a great place but there are a few things I just don’t like about it. Lawrence has great schools, a good shelter for the homeless, nice places for kids and adults to go for a good load of fun, and it also has well constructed houses for people to live in.
Now of course change takes time. Sure sports and music are big for kids, but what about places for kids to hang out with friends. Lawrence has limited activity. As my first change I would help out this issue. Lawrence is expanding, but entertainment is going nowhere. What about building a bowling alley and movie theater by the north part of town. Kids who live by that area would be able to see a movie and knock down some pins more conveniently. Also, building an ice skating rink would build ideas. Hockey leagues could form along with competitive figure skating. Families and friends could go to the rink for an afternoon of fun. Parents are also concerned about their child’s safety while out with friends. These new youth hangouts would provide adult supervision. Parents would like this idea better so they aren’t so concerned about their kid’s safety. These new facilities would keep kids out of trouble, and open up their minds.
