Illustrative essay (rough draft) Stereotypes can have excessive damage and it can have a very negative effect on the person in view or as a whole group. Stereotyping is not just another form of making fun of people, it also encourages rejection and outcast. Stereotyping is not only cruel and harmful to people, it can also have major effects on how a person behaves and acts towards other people. It also makes who ever is stereotyping look like a fool.
It also forms barriers in communication and everyday life. In this essay I’m gonna give senario’s that will give evidence to what I’m trying to say. But first let me give you a short definition of stereotyping. Stereotyping is putting a label on someone or a group who is different in a way that society looks down upon, Like looks, beliefs, and a persons background.
For example, a person could be brought up to be nice, and have manners; but once they get into school and their different than most of the other kids they get picked on or abused because they don’t do or fit in with what the other kids are doing. To better explain this I’ll make a senario to provide a vivid picture in the readers mind. Jimmy was brought up to perform at an outstanding academic level. So his mom and dad put a lot of undue pressure on him.
Since he couldn’t get below a B+, he didn’t have time to do any sports or extracurricular activities. And he spent all his time studying. All the other kids in his middle school and high school made fun of him. They put a social shadow on him just because he wasn’t in sports and that he studied all the time. They didn’t take into consideration that he had a lot of pressure on him. So after a long period of harassment and stereotyping he began to change.

These acts of violence are done by students who feel ...
He was quieter and his behavior changed for the worse. The scenario I just mentioned show’s how stereotyping can have an effect on one’s behavior an how they do and act in the world. People don’t realize how they can hurt someone by just ignoring someone because they don’t have the same interest. Some people would say that the parents in this situation are to blame because of all the pressure they put on Jimmy. This is one way of looking at it. There are many people to blame for stereotyping.
Sometimes the school system’s are just as bad as the students. But the first and most accurate person to blame is ourselves. We often don’t even realize that we are stereotyping when we do it. People need to think more carefully before they make fun of someone or a group of people. In conclusion I would like to point.
