Ladies and Gentlemen, do you think that immigration is affecting our society? If so, is it affecting it in a bad way? I ask. Whoever can think of a good and mature reason right now, that immigration is traumatically affecting our society in a bad way. Please speak now. I’m not here to speak against a specific area of immigration, but I am here to discuss some facts of this topic with you so that you may be able to share some thoughts with me. I do not think against immigration at all for I am an immigrant myself, and if I were to say something against that, I would only become a hypocrite.
What I say should be on behalf of the Asians I represent. Australia is a large country. So why not accept a couple of thousand extra people? Does anyone know how crowded countries such as Japan, Korea and even China is? Korea and Japan, they have such a small piece of land, yet such an overpopulated country! That is why they build more buildings each day to try and provide an appropriate habitat for each and every citizen. This means that in this process, you lose many of the beautiful places for citizens to enjoy such as nature and historic places, all because of trying to find a good place to build a new home for another person.
That is why the whole immigration process started. They all just wanted a quiet place to live. A not-so-crowded land in which they can dwell. Immigration was ALWAYS a difficult thing. The government finds it hard to cope with so many people from different countries trying to fit into Australia. Just the statistics for immigrants whom settled during 1998-99 are 46, 891.
The Term Paper on Country Affects Planning And Management In Urban Areas
With reference to examples, assess the degree to which the level of economic development of a country affects planning and management in urban areas. Planning and management needs to happen in all countries over the world because no matter how different the level of development between countries the problems will be same in urban areas. These problems that need to be planned and managed in the ...
About people from over 150 different countries took out Australian citizenship. The major countries of former nationality or citizenship were Britain, China, Vietnam, India, Philippine, Sri-Lanka and many more. That is an enormous number if you think about it. In Australia, you wake up to the fresh morning breeze, maybe a large backyard pool. Most places in Asia wouldn’t have that. They need to try and conserve as much land as possible.
They don’t have their own backyard. They live in stuffy 20 storey apartments where it is so utterly expensive. They have no freedom in their own home. They can’t even RUN in their own homes because the people living below you will ring you up and complain.
That is one of the biggest changes they face when they come to Australia. Practically everyone owns their own piece of land; they can run around in their houses. They can plant those flowers they always wanted to sow. They can also step outside their home in a quiet street and breathe in the clean air as they soak in the sunlight coming down from the blue sky.
Immigrants never regret coming to Australia. I surveyed about 36 Korean people; age ranging from 19-30 years old on Sunday and only 2 of them said that they really wanted to go back to Korea. Roughly, wouldn’t that mean 94. 4% of all immigrants would be happy? Personally, I think this world was created so that everyone can live together in unity.
A world where everyone can live as one. Immigration brings us just one step closer to this plan. Living together with people from many distinct countries can be a difficult issue. There are many different cultures and traditions to accept. This is just one of the complaints that the Anti-immigration Societies would say. But you must realize, it is also the same for the immigrants.
They must also face their new world and blend in with Western cultures. Do you think it would be easy for them? They came here to be free. Then they must learn how to be free. Honestly speaking, I think governments these days take freedom for granted.
The Term Paper on Invaded By Immigrants Place To Live
Invaded By Immigrants Canada being a relatively new country, as far as the history of the world goes was built by immigration. Every single resident of North America can trace his ancestry back to the cradle of life in Europe. Even Native Americans found their way to the new world over a frozen ice pack, spreading out across the land, weaving a rich culture and prospering. The Canada that we know ...
The government does not seem to think both ways. Certainly they look at the big picture, but they must also look at the details. They debate over issues such as “Illegal Immigrants” and also things such as “Immigrants and Drugs.” Ok. Illegal immigrants. Big picture, you see people sneaking out of boats and airplanes hopping onto a new land. You see people smile and slowly unpack their luggage wondering where to go next.
Now I’ll mention the details. Why do you think the immigrants smuggled into Australia in the first place. Does it not show their personal life? They wanted to run from something. They wanted to be free. I think immigration should not only be based on what job you have, but what background. Illegal immigrants should really give you the picture, on how desperate the people were in the first place.
They could be fleeing from a Communist ruled country; they could be trying to escape a war. They just want freedom like the rest of us. So why not give it to them? Tell me, if you were in a country where war was going on, wouldn’t you want to escape from that? Wouldn’t you want to at LEAST save your life so that you may be able to live and tell the world the real story? Wouldn’t you want to have a meaning to life? Well that is just what these people want. Immigration is a remedy that helps certain individuals have a second chance at life. Second chance of living in a completely different world.
Why do you think our family had moved? I wasn’t meant to get personal here! But Asia may seem a pretty cool place to live; yet I have heard from many people, that it has a very high percentage of living with difficulty. Currencies falling, issues happening. Ok. Let’s not go there! Just like Australia has its problems, Asia has too. Only, it has more! Wouldn’t we all love to live in a place where it is close to perfect? A place where there is hardly any problems at all? Don’t you think Asians are also human too? For other reasons, immigrants aren’t accepted because of their race. This is very rare, but I have heard that it has happened before.
They have been kicked out because politics have tried to reinforce anti-immigration laws. Let’s put it like this. Just say your family moved into a fantastic new home. After awhile, they suddenly changed laws on payment systems and your family just couldn’t follow that. Then they had to be kicked out of their home just because they couldn’t understand the new structure properly.
The Essay on People often complain about life in the U.S.
People complain when most of their needs are not met. The irony of it lies when complaints are just piled up without any further insights on how to solve such problems. In the long run, complaints become a part of the lifestyle of people who are good at pointing at the loopholes most especially of the government, and of the leaders. As there would always be a reason for every action that is done, ...
Wouldn’t you be infuriated? Wouldn’t you feel that way for the rest of your life? Australia is a big country. I don’t see why it has to “create” its problems. They could probably just change some immigration laws so that more people could be accepted here, provided that they MUST do something in return. I think I pretty much summarize my point with that short sentence. I have tried to persuade you to keep immigration rules open.
Think deeper than the big picture. To look into the details and find out more about what other people may feel before leaping to the negative points. I really hope that I have made some points clear. Now I finish and leave you to think about another issue, only because I think you are mature enough to consider the deeper issues.
If Immigration means to be treated like a true citizen, why is there racism? Then why are there outcasts? Thank you and I hope you have learnt something. Angela Han.
