My goal in the area of communication is to create an enriched environment for exploring and expanding all forms of communication at each child’s level. To accomplish my goal I sign in the classroom. The children can then hear and see the words. When transitioning activities I count to five in English, Spanish, French, Mandarin, German, or Italian to get the children to stop what they are doing and get ready for the next activity. To expand a child’s vocabulary I write an explanation on art as the child verbalizes an explanation of their art.
I introduce a new word of the day in circle time to expand vocabulary by presenting an item in our classroom mailbox. I also use music for children to sing what they have heard, and to follow directions in the song. 7. Creative I am competent in the area of creativity. My goal in the area of Creative is to establish multiple times each day for children to express themselves, use their imagination, work independently or in groups to create art, reenact books through skits, and time for interpretive dance.

I reenact our classroom books but allowing the children to create alternative endings. I use music and movement as a time for children to create and express their own song and dance. I allow children to create their own props in our arts and craft time.
