The Ireland Trip When I was fifteen I was with my best friend when we encountered funny experience when we overslept for our first tour of The Taste of Ireland. I stayed over at Ryan’s house. Ryan, my best friend since I was six, and me were leaving fro Ireland the next morning and we were so excited that we slept only two hours all night. The next morning we woke up and got all of our stuff put into his mom’s car. We then told her we ” re ready, so we jumped into the car and headed for the Huntington Tri-State Airport. Once we arrived we jumped out of the car and got our luggage checked in.
At the point I was a little nervous because I had never flown in an airplane. We finally make it on the airplane and we were off to Pittsburgh’s Airport. Once we arrived we stepped into the airport and it was huge. No one in the group of fifteen had been in the airport and didn’t know where to go except Mr. Shy, the leader of the group. Our next plane was leaving in fifteen minutes so Mr.
Shy had to hurry and get all of us kids together so that we could get on the other side of the airport to catch out next flight. While we were walking through the airport, Ryan asked me, “If I liked flying yet.” I asked, “Why is that?” He replied, “This plane is a monster compared to the last one.” We stepped on the plane and I looked towards the back and it looked like there were four hundred seats on the plane compared to the last one, which held only twenty passengers. We got seated, and a few minutes later we started to take off. As we were taking off unlike the crop duster, this plane made me feel like I was implanted in the seats because the plane took off so fast. I was so excited because I was flying on this monster plane. The whole time we were in flight I was watching out the window at the ground where there weren’t clouds below us.

Not feeling like we had been on the plane for very long, we arrived in New York to catch our next flight. Once we arrived we went to the section of the airport where our plane is leaving. We had a three-hour delay so we were allowed to go get something to eat at one of the restaurants in the airport and be back in an hour. Well we all got back in time and waited around to board the plane. We boarded the plane, and we were on out flight to Ireland.
By this time no one was able to sleep on the plane, even though it was a ten-hour flight to out final destination. We finally arrived in Ireland and aborted the plane. We then received our luggage downstairs. Once we received our luggage, we walked outside and onto our bus that was waiting on us. As we were on the bus, the bus driver told us where we were going and the time.
After he told us the time, we realized that we had been up for over twenty-four hours. Once we figured this out we suddenly were worn out, so Ryan and I were thinking when we make it to the hotel we ” ll take a nap since we ” ll have two hours before we have to go on out first tour. After we arrived at the hotel and checked in, Ryan and I rushed upstairs to our room. Once we made it to the room, we dropped our stuff at the front door and lay down in the beds; Ryan set the alarm clock for 1: 15 p. m. because our tour started at 2 o’clock.
We fell asleep and the next thing I realize is that its 2: 45, so I jumped out of bed and woke up Ryan to let him know that we were late and the probably left us. We didn’t know where they went. We hurried up and got out shoes on and got on the elevator to go to the lobby. As the elevator door opened the first thing we saw was Mr. Shy sitting at a table with a worried look. At this point we didn’t think he was mad, but things changed as we walked closer and he noticed us.

He walked up to us and started going off. He was asking where we had been? At the same time Ryan and I said, “In our room asleep.” He looked at us as if we had just lied to him. Then he went on and said, “Bull crap Josh (Ryan’s older brother) and I had the hotel manager take us up to your room and Josh went through both of your bags and said they were yours and you were not in the room. Ryan and I looked at each other and sort of laughed for a second.
I looked at Mr. Shy and said, ” We were in our room asleep the whole time until you saw us get off the elevator.” Then Mr. Shy replied, “I told you me and Josh went to your room and you weren’t in there. Now just where have you two been?” I replied back, “In 508 asleep.” Mr. Shy had a weird look on his face and said, “What room 508.” Both of us replied, “Yes 508!” Mr. Shy paused for a minute and said, “I just had the manager open 306 and had Josh go through someone’s things.” After he told us that, Ryan and I started laughing at him, and then he said, “Well it’s ok since you ” re here now and alright, but the group left about fifty minutes ago.
Do you boys have any Irish money?” We replied, “Ya.” He said, “Good cause we are going to take a cab and go to the tour and try to find the rest of the group.” We all three went outside and called a cab. We got in the cab and took off. I thought that I was going to die in that taxi cab because the driver was driving like he was in a Indy car race on the last lap and he had to win the race. We finally make it to the tour, but we didn’t find our group and decided to take the tour anyway. Ryan and I decided during the tour we didn’t want to get in another cab to go back to the hotel, so we told Mr. Shy we were walking back to the hotel because it wasn’t but four blocks.
We arrived back at the hotel before the rest of our group made it back. Since we made it back before the group did, we waited in the lobby for about twenty minutes. Then they walked in and saw us, they were all asking where we had been, and then we explained the story to them that we were just in our room taking a nap. When I look back on this experience today I laugh about it.

I can see where at the time this happened some of the people where worried about us not being in the lobby or in our room, but now everyone seems to laugh about it. One thing that I have learned from this is that when you go on a trip like this one and you decide to take a nap. You should let someone else know incase you oversleep.
