Humans have always been interested in the idea of exploring space. the scientists, astronauts and researchers have spent decades looking for life on other planets. Mars is the most favorable place in the solar system, other than Earth, for human habitation. It is also the closest planet to Earth. Even though some researchers claim that exploring Mars will help us to understand the Earth better, and a manned mission to Mars is better for humanity, opposing sending a manned mission to Mars for these reasons: because the cost of the exportation is not worth the risk involved. this exploration will have a negative effect on Americans. Mars exploration should be halted because of the cost to the economy, the risk to society and the lack of advanced technological equipment for the mission.
The economy around the world has been very bad for years and sending people to Mars will only cause more problems to the economy. Although people may argue that money spent on exploring Mars is a good investment and it helps create jobs in the economy, spending billions of dollars exploring Mars is something that America cannot afford right now. The United States has recently had the worst economic crisis in a decade.
The housing market suffered the worst housing crash in U.S history. The housing market crash in 2007 was the result of the financial crisis. This nearly caused Americans to experience another depression like the Great depression of 1929. According to CBS News, 4 million families were pushed into forclosre between 2007 and 2012. The effects of foreclossure begin before the actual loss of the home. Research has proven that homeowners in the midst of forclosure become more stressed and fight more.In an interview with parents reported fighting more often with their spouse and kids during this time. Even when this is not the case, parent say their children are distressed by the increased tension in the house (Bowlder) when americans are losing their homesand their savings, it is fool hardy and wasteful for the government to spend billions on exploring Mars.
The Term Paper on Mexican Economy
I. Historical, Population, Culture, Political, and Economic Information History Mexico was the site of some of the earliest and most advanced civilizations in the western hemisphere. The Mayan culture, according to archaeological research, attained its greatest development about the 6th century AD. Another group, the Toltec, established an empire in the Valley of Mexico and developed a great ...
Another reason I think going to Mars will hurt the economy is the unemployment rate. People are losing their jobs because the companies cannot afford to be in business, and the poverty rate is very high all over the country. Employers took 1,360 mass layoff actions in October involving 131,173 workers a measured by new filings for unemployment insurance benefits during the month November according to the U.S. Bureau of labor Statistics report. A lot of the people who lost their jobs are now on government assisted programs like food stamps and medical insurance because they have lost their jobs and cannot afford basic needs. U.S. President Barack Obama will ask Congress for $17.7 billion for NASA for 2013, an amount that would leave the agency funded at its lowest level in four years, these billions of dollars can be used to strengthen the economy by creating more jobs and improving in the housing market. This country has a multitude of financial needs. Some of the saved money can provide better educational systems by providing educational research and updated programs to fill the needs of many kinds of students. Also funds can be diverted from space exploration to provide Americans with affordable health care.
A lot of Americans cannot afford health insurance so these funds can go toward making healthcare affordable for the poor and providing free health care for children and senior citizens. In addition to healthcare, The money could be spent to improve railroads, so that train service could rival the European trains. With better trains and railways people would use it more for travelling and cut down on the air pollution with cars. travel in the United States can be improved. It is more expensive than traveling across Europe by air, the additional funds people could afford to travel by train or air. As it is now train travel can take longer than driving by cars because the railways are owned by the freight companies and passenger trains have to wait for clearance to travel the tracks. This method of travel remains out of the grasp of many Americans. How can it be that in Europe, travel is affordable and fast, and in the greatest country in the world, travel is either inconvenient or expensive Funds to improve transportation should be diverted from Mars exploration to keep America competitive as a successful developed country.
The Essay on Exploring Human Nature Stephen Crane
Exploring Human Nature Commonly considered Stephen Crane's greatest accomplishment, The Red Badge of Courage ranks among the foremost literary achievements of the modern era. While the novel was not universally praised, almost without exception Crane's critics marveled at the emotional power of his vivid, visual prose. Crane's journalistic description and ironic understatement comprise a legacy, ...
Added to the economic costs to America, a venture to Mars causes substantial risk to the society. The environment and society are very important to human survival on Earth. Even though some people feel that exploring Mars may help understand the Earth better, and going to Mars will be a great scientific milestone, in my opinion exploring Mars is a bad idea. The atmosphere on Mars is about 100 times thinner than earth and it is not suitable for us to breath. It contains about 95% of carbon dioxide and little or no oxygen. This will make it very difficult for humans to survive there. Unlike Mars, which is not protected and is exposed to everything, the Earth is protected by the ozone layer. Exploring Mars will be dangerous to humans and very expensive to taxpayers. This will take years of planning and the mission will take years instead of days. The astronauts who go there may run out of oxygen and even fall sick.
They will be unable to just return at any time. They have to wait until the earth aligns with Mars before they can return. All this could take months or even years for the Earth to align with Mars. Mars elliptical orbit puts it close to earth every 26 months and put the shortest difference every 15 years. Mars approach varies over a 12 to 15 year cycle and is only close at that time for 26 months. Who will volunteer for this mission? The long duration space fight exposes the human body to microgravity which affects physiological health drastically. Some of these physical effects are bone loss, muscle atrophy, cardiovascular, and even sensory motor reaction. It has also been reported that the extravehicular activities increases the workload and stress levels of the astronauts..
The Essay on How Has Modern Technology Improved People’s Lives
The major achievements of technology have left man spell-bound and every part of the world today is enjoying the comforts provided by technology. Thanks to technology, all the countries are interlinked and we are now living in a global village. Modern technology has greatly improved people's lives through different fields such as medicine, work, education, industry as well as warfare. However, we ...
In addition, we have bigger problems here on earth that need immediate attention like hurricanes, wildfires, climate change and even flooding . The astronauts must leave their family and love one for years to go to space. God know if they will every come back the same. Exploring Mars would be very huge project human beings have to do and I think it is a waste of time, money and humans life. Because there is no life, or little life on Mars.
Finally opponents may say that, exploring Mars has changed the recent technology drastically by developing automatic blood pressure reading, pacemakers, cordless phones and microwaves. However, there is more to consider than just the science. Why go to Mars to invent anything when that can be done here on Earth. Exploring Mars makes no sense with the current technology and the cost and risks involved. Even though NASA is developing a new spacecraft, the technology to lift the required supplies into space has not been fully developed. , these new technologies have had a negative effect on Americans.
People have eliminated face-to-face interactions which we need as humans, such as banking online and talking and chatting more on the phone in steading of visiting friends and family. People are becoming more isolated as a result of this technology and causing kids to be shy and more depressed . Kids don’t want to go outside and play; they will rather play video game for hours or be on the internet. This has increase the obesity rate in children also Cyber bullying has increase due to all this advance technology. As the internet and cell phone access grows over the years, so does the way to bully by internet grows.
These perpetrators are isolated from their victims and therefore do not realize the consequences of their behavior. There has been an increase of suicide among victims of cyber bulling. This this the repeated harm inflected through the use of computer, cell phones and other electronic devices. Also people are using cell phones and microwave signals more which I think is causing health problems such as cancer. People are multi-tasking more now, such as texting while driving and this is causing a lot of accidents.
The Research paper on Why Does the Earth Support Life
Earth is where all of us live in. Earth is the 3rd Planet from the sun, as well as the 5th largest planet in our solar system. As far as humans know Earth is unique in the Solar System as being the only planet which is able to support life in all its forms: from basic micro-organisms to highly sophisticated human beings. There are many reasons why this happens. In this Research paper I will be ...
The research cannot be done on just one trip to Mars. They would have to go back and this could take years. The astronauts would go there to do little more than analyze rocks. The Earth comes first. Rather than spending billions of dollars toward the development of technology for Mars exploration, we should spend the money on researching the cure for diseases here on Earth, such as medical research, which can help find cures for some diseases that are killing people. Diseases need for cures that will enhance the society such as cancer, HIV, and to research those diseases that can be cured with stem cells. All this research could help make a difference in people’s lives on Earth
Even though exploring Mars may have some good effects on us, going to Mars is waste of money because the money that is being used to developed technology for the exploration could be used to help in every area of American life. We constantly hear about the fiscal cliff. How helpful would it be to use the 17.7 billion mars exploration budget on paying America’s bills and creating an economy in with people can find jobs and be able to afford health care
