Hell will be forever for rent!”- Pg. 434 Personal Thoughts: The 1920’s started with a huge boom, the night life was exciting and music filled the air. It seemed like a great era up until the stock market bust at the end. I think that the era was overall good, I would want to go back and experience that time period if it was possible.

The introduction of Jazz which led to African Americans becoming famous and white people began listening to their music. More than half the American population no longer lived in rural areas and moved to the cities. Also the radio became a popular common household item.

When the 1920’s began so did the Harlem Renaissance and Prohibition. That led to Jazz and Speakeasies becoming popular and in the middle of the decade Charleston became popular. The roaring 20’s at first was about the nightlife and having a good time. But towards the end of the decade the stock market crashed leading to the Great Depression and a worldwide crisis. “To obtain liquor illegally, drinkers went underground to hidden saloons and nightclubs known as speakeasies”- pg.436
