Each character makes a decision that comes with issues that affects the story. Absalom Kumalo in Cry the Beloved Country, Tom Roberson in To kill a Mocking Bird, and King Henry in A Man for all Seasons all make decisions that contribute greatly to the pot of the novels. This proves that minor characters can influence the outcome of the story. In Cry the Beloved Country, by Alan Paton, Absalom Kumalo chooses and makes his decision to rob Arthur Jarvis house and shoot him while doing this. Absalom gets scared and accidentally shoots Author. This decision cam with a consequence he committed murder and robbery.
He did this because he was poor. To approach this problem, at court, Absalom confesses to the judge that he committed the crimes, but did not mean to kill Arthur. He is found guilty and is faced with the repercussions. But in an upbeat note it brings both the fathers James Jarvis and Steven Kumalo together.
Tom Roberson in To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee, is another minor character that greatly impacted the novel. Tom Robertson was convicted of raping a white girl. An while in jailing serving his punishment he tried to escape. While he was there he tried to escape, he got shot and died. This man was innocent and tries his chances by escaping because he would have been there either way.
In these times was segregation and it was a black mans verses a white women’s word. Atticus participates in this story but going against everyone’s options and helping this black man by defending him in court. Bob Ewell on the other side wants him convicted. This problem reflects on the story, Tom Robertson is like the innocent mocking bird that gets killed. This choice impacts much of the story. King Henry again another minor character in A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt, makes decisions that are significance to the story.

King Henry is trying to divorce his wife Catherine but comes across some obstacles. King Henry believes that Catherine can not provide him with a son that can fulfill the throne after he dies. If this problem is not solved before he dies there be catastrophe on who is going to be king. He goes to the pope to try to get an annulment but fails.
Sir Thomas also concurs with the Pope. So King Henry has the parliament pass the Act of Supremacy which declares King Henry the head of the church. Therefore King Henry passes an act that swears on the oath to King Henry’s Supremacy and validates remarriage. This is one more decision that influences the story.
Each character contributes greatly to the conclusion of each novel. Even as a minor character the decisions affect the impact of the story immensely. This is why each character makes their decision wisely because it impacts the story. These consequences of these actions make up parts of the pot of each story..
