The koalas are a mammal often mistakenly confused with being called a bear. They are one of the few marsupials that have a pouch. The koalas are born and raised in the forest and are taught to live on their own. Their unique paws make them especially equipped for climbing and clinging. The Koalas have a very unique digestive system giving them the ability to detoxify the poisonous chemicals produced by the gum trees. The Koalas appearance is suited for life in the trees.
They have either brown and white or grey and white fur. Unlike the tree kangaroos the koalas do not have tails. They have long and strong bodies making them able to support their weight and more. The paws are unique in that the front paws have two thumbs and three fingers and the front paws have four fingers and one thumb. Koalas are mostly located on the Eastern coast of Australia. They are found in a range of coastal islands and tall eucalypt forests to low woodlands.
The koalas are picky about their habitat if It does not support the right species of trees they will not live there. Their favorite trees are the eucalyptus trees. Today the koalas are not located in rainforests but people think that millions of years ago they could have used the rainforest for their habitats. The Koalas are a fast marsupial with the ability to jump into high trees they are able to jump very quickly when escaping from enemies. Koalas live in societies just as humans and they need to come in contact with other koalas. They need to have areas with enough resources to support a population of koalas.
