Why Should the Government make marijuana Legal?
I think there is a large population of people in the United States who feel the government of this country has made a huge mistake in the war on drugs. Instead of focusing in on the deadly, harsh drugs, the government has decided that the harmless drug, marijuana, needs to be eliminated. It has been the focus of much criticism and endless anti-smoking programs. Kids are taught to think marijuana is a dangerous drug and that smoking will kill you. They say smoking will kill your brain cells and make you a loner. The government doesn t realize that legalizing marijuana is the answer to their problems. Read very closely as I solve one of the so-called biggest problems in the United States.
This world has many dangerous drugs, cocaine, heroin, acid, crack, crank, meth, and even alcohol. Everybody has heard of the dangers of these drugs. People hear about heroin addicts killing people, college rapes due to drinking, and cocaine users dying their first time snorting it. Think back to how many times you ve heard of death or violence due to the presence of marijuana. I have a feeling your having a very difficult time coming up with a time you have heard something like that. Marijuana relaxes your body, makes you hungry, turns your eyes red and makes you thirsty, and makes you laugh at things that may otherwise make no sense at all. Marijuana doesn t make you violent, it doesn t kill your brain cells, and you have almost complete control of your body, except when it comes to laughing. There have been numerous studies on marijuana and not one of them shows any long-term damage to the brain. It causes some short-term memory loss, to a very limited point. It causes some problems in your lungs but not to the extent that cigarettes cause damage. Reports say that if you are an athlete and need to run you are better off smoking marijuana instead of cigarettes because of the reduced lung problems. Smoking marijuana can relieve ones pain while they undergo treatments for cancer. It can also be a very good social drug, like alcohol, without the nasty side effects like puking, passing out, and drunk driving. Driving while under the influence of marijuana does not endanger anyone. I am more scared of the elderly then I am of someone on marijuana. I have first hand experience with the side effects and I have to say that the effects do not warrant it being illegal.
The Essay on Marijuana Drug
Marijuana use and the ability to freely choose whether or not it should be legal or illegal is fierce debate today. Whether or not State or Federal government should regulate this is the “hot topic” that is being debate even as we speak. There are two sides to every story and of course my opinion as well. The side that opposes the legalization of marijuana stands tall with the National Institute ...
There are many people out there who believe that marijuana causes people to become isolated and stop doing things they enjoy. There is a very logical reason for this to happen. When something is illegal you can t go out like you normally would for fear of getting caught. If it was legal then people could smoke their marijuana, go out to the movies or too a friends and not have to worry about police and parents. That is the reason for the isolation. People wouldn t have to hide out in a friend s basement or go driving into the country. They could smoke before they go out and not be so paranoid. Marijuana would be a lot cheaper and people would know what they were buying. No poison or pencil shavings, no jacked up prices and people stealing money to get it. There would still be laws just like with alcohol.
There is another aspect to legalizing marijuana. The government could take the thousands of drug cops focusing on marijuana and try to bust the bigger dealers with the harsh drugs. They wouldn t need the new jails and prisons because there would be a lot of space open once the marijuana users are released. The government could continue growing marijuana, tax it, and make tons of money. Included in the money they save from the prisons and law enforcement they could increase the fight against other drugs and maybe increase the education budget.

The 60 s and 70 s was spent in a haze by a lot of people and they turned out all right. There haven t been cases of illness caused by excessive smoking by these people. I think Woodstock is a good example of marijuana s effect on people. The first Woodstock was a peaceful gathering of hippies. The second one was a gathering of angry people. During the first one marijuana was smoked without fear of getting arrested. It calms people down and makes you very social. If the government was to make marijuana legal it would make this country a much more peaceful place. Here is a radical yet logical answer to a very difficult question, how do we get rid of marijuana. You don t, you make it excepted and legal and watch the country clean up into a better place.
