Legalization
Most people would say marijuana is bad for you but other would tell you it is the most wonderful thing on earth. Have you ever heard of anyone over dosing on marijuana? In many cases most people overdose on other drugs but not usually marijuana.
You can get alcohol poisoning from drinking too much. So why isn’t alcohol illegal? Many people die from alcohol incidents everyday. Whether it be from your liver shutting down or getting in an accident from drinking and driving. Statistics show that in 2005 there were 16,885 alcohol related fatalities. That is an average of one alcohol fatality every 31 minutes. Now that is a lot of deaths. If this many people are dying everyday from alcohol related accidents then why can this be legal and not marijuana smoking?
Many people say marijuana is a gateway drug but the U.S government’s statistics show that over 75 percent of all Americans who use marijuana never use harder drugs. The gateways drug theory is derived by using blatantly-flawed logic. If using this logic alcohol should be considered the gateway drug because most cocaine and heroin addicts began their drug use with beer or wine, not marijuana.
Medical studies show that marijuana is not physically addicting. Marijuana is actually a less habit forming drug than caffeine. The legal drugs of tobacco and alcohol can be as addicting as heroin or cocaine, but marijuana is one of the least habit forming substance known.

When people are sick why do they get to be prescribed with medical marijuana? Medical marijuana is no different from regular marijuana…it makes people that are sick feel better, which is exactly what regular marijuana does too. My friend for instance was diagnosed with Chiari when she was in eighth grade and has had five brain surgeries. I don’t know how many nights she has had to spend in the ER. She throws up constantly always has headaches and never feels good unless she smokes. I have seen her on her good days and on her worst days and if I was in that much pain I would want to smoke all the time too. It makes her feel so much better; it helps with the nausea and the headaches. It took her five brain surgeries before she was prescribed with medical marijuana. You can just tell the difference now that she can smoke whenever she wants and its not illegal for her to have it. She has been able to actually go to school and do things with her friends, instead of just laying in bed all day because she didn’t feel good.
If it has helped my friend out so much just think of what it could do too many other people who are sick. Marijuana is a natural herb. It grows in the ground just like a lot of other things we eat. It isn’t made out of household products that contain horrible things for people’s bodies. Why is it that it is legal in some countries but not everywhere? If it helps with illness then why wouldn’t we want to legalize it and make it better off for the people that are sick?
