The word ‘prostitution’ always represents problematic issue in society for years. Constant attempts to solve this existing problem have not really brought any positive results. Although there are some efforts to manage prostitution, such as localization, for some time the problem was obviously ignored by the government as if it completely did not know what to do with it. Prostitution has always been “covered“ from the eyes of citizens as it has always been a taboo matter in society. Nevertheless, the problem does not disappear, and in fact it becomes bigger over time. It was also thought that prohibition would put an end to many social problems. However, passing new laws, such as prohibiting prostitution, runs a risk of creating more criminals, and that is exactly what happened in the society nowadays. Although in the eyes of citizens prostitution has always been unacceptable, I think legalizing prostitution can answer some problematic issues in society.
Religious people often claim they know what is good for society, and prostitution is always deemed as wrong in the eyes of religion. Consequently, they seek to shape the society into a better one through their dogmas. Religious people will always seek for what is true or what is wrong according to their belief. So, they might think why must we legalize something that is absolutely wrong. That could be the point to the futility of prohibiting prostitution. However, real life is not as smooth as religious dogma. There are a lot of people who do not have sufficient knowledge or skills to get a job and a decent wage to feed themselves. In this kind of situation, people no longer have a choice to choose a job considered proper by norms in society. As long as they can earn money to survive, they will do anything. Their body seems to be the one and only asset they have. To that, one would have to point to justify the act of using their body as an asset to gain money. Unfortunately, our world is shaped by the traditions that do not even give space for prostitutes to at least do their job without intimidation or oppression. The traditions that abandon prostitutes or even alienate prostitutes have existed up until now. No longer do these traditions serve humanity.

Many people might argue that the most horrifying thing about prostitution is that it has become a “career” for the young female generation. We often see that many prostitutes around the world are teenagers and they often “sell” themselves through underground prostitution. Moreover, the toll of young prostitutes involved in prostitution around the world increases. However, this would not happen if prostitution is legalized. Legalizing prostitution would prevent underground prostitution that occurs nowadays especially among (art) young generation (Lowman, par. 3).
If we keep ignoring the existence of prostitution because we think it is wrong, we allow a number of teens to be swept up into prostitution every year. Walker said, it is estimated that 100,000 to 3 million teens are involved in underground prostitution per year in the United States (Liberator, par 20).
When adult women decide to exchange money for sex, it is a personal choice open to them, but sometimes young generations involved in prostitution are often manipulated by opportunists who exploit them. Legalizing prostitution will help prevent these situations through regulations.
Many people argue that the most unbearable thing that happens because of prostitution is the spread of dangerous diseases like syphilis, gonorrhea, HIV/AIDS and herpes. It is true that the spread of sexual diseases increases through illegal prostitution. Allowing prostitution to remain invisible in fact only perpetuates the spread of sometimes-deadly sexually transmitted diseases. Hence, prostitutes must be monitored through a legal system. Legalizing it can prevent the spread of sexual diseases. Legalization will require prostitutes to undergo regular medical examinations regularly. Government can build special clinical services, for example, offering regular examination and treatment for registered sex workers. There is a strong reasoning for legalizing prostitution by regulating the industry and also the people involving in it, thereby monitoring sex workers and consequently the clients they serve. Establishing a particular area for prostitution is better than the abolitionist model based on ignoring the prostitution areas, so it can be controlled by the government (Liberator, par 54).

With a good monitoring system, the spread of some dangerous sexual diseases transmitted through illegal prostitution can decrease.
Although legalizing prostitution can offer solutions, still choosing prostitution as a career is indeed an irrational option. Prostitution is not and will never be a standard job for people. People involved in it often find difficulties in seeking for people’s approval. They often become the victims of the system. Most people would agree that prostitution is obviously a negative phenomenon and demoralizes the society. Yet, legalizing it can actually solve many problems that occur because of it. Prostitution needs to be analyzed from every single side and approach such as economic approach and human rights. Legalizing prostitution does not mean giving justification to the act of providing sexual services in exchange for money. Legal prostitution will allow the act to be managed instead of ignored. There are many benefits to legalized prostitution such as helping women who are trapped by prostitution and preventing teens from being ensnared into prostitution. Critics of the legalization of prostitution offer no alternative to a troublesome problem.

Summary: Prostitution does exist, and it is an unchallengeable fact. It existed since ancient times in different countries, with different social-political statuses. Summary: Sexual relations are handled differently in countries around the world. Most countries encourage varied forms of monogamy, others polygamy. Critics of the legalization of prostitution offer no alternative to a troublesome problem. These people would rather adopt the status quo model, which virtually abandons lower strata, low socio-economic prostitutes. The critics of legalized prostitution rest comfortably within relatively new moral codes. The religions that now reject prostitution once used to manage it. pedophilia at the expense of demeaning religious values and the lives of those who aspire to follow them. Enlightened people within civilized societies pride themselves on the contributions made to others who are less fortunate. Low strata prostitutes clearly rest within the domain of the less fortunate, but the countries who cling to anti-prostitution laws choose to abandon these people and thereby negatively affect the crime, health, and general safety of those nations. One must reconsider whether or not those countries are truly civilized.
