Lennie Small

Lennie Small is one of many character in of mice and men by John Steinbeck. Lennie is mentally disabled, a dreamer and dedicated. But sometimes Lennie metal disability can get in his way.
Due to Lennie’s metal disability, he depends on George, his friend and traveling partner. He is in a child like state of mind within his giant body. He often hurts the things he loves by accidentally. As a strong man with powerful hands, he doesn’t know or understand his own strength. But like George said “He ain’t no cuckoo” said George “He’s dumb as hell, but he ain’t crazy”(43).
“O.K someday- we’re gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have alittle house and a couple of acres an’ a cow and some pigs and-” Through out the novel Lennie is a dreamer. He Dream’s of owning a farm to get away from things that often get’s him in trouble. He dreams of tending to the rabbits. At the end of the novel, when Lennie and George are talking by the stream, Lennie begs George to buy the land quickly. When George pulls the trigger. Lennie is dreaming about the farm and the rabbits, therefore dying happy.
Also Lennie is dedicated. Dedicated to George and to the rabbits. The rabbits are important to the story because George use’s them as a way to keep Lennie out of trouble.”ain’t gonna get in no trouble because if you do, I won’t let you tend them rabbits”(16).

In conclusion, Lennie’s metal disability, dreams and dedication shape’s him to be one of the most memorable character in the in the novel. Of mice and men impacting impacting story give’s people sympathy for Lennie. Those who understand him love him. But sadly that innocents lends him to his fate.
