Lesson Learned History of My Writing The experiences that shaped my ability as a writer are easy for me to recall. I had a very supportive English teacher my first two years of high school. I also scored perfectly on my writing essay for the G. E. D. practice test, and nearly perfect on the G.
E. D. test. These experiences impacted the way that I write now. Mr.
Geller was a very intense man who demanded the best from his students. I had him for English I my freshman year, and I mistakenly thought the class would be easy. After damaging the nerves in my arm from carrying a heavy backpack, I was assigned an essay topic titled, “High School Lockers and Your Health.” I scored well on essays in his class, because they were relevant and interesting. Mr. Geller convinced me to register for advanced placement English class the next year. I was terrified because even after a year of good grades, I was still not confident in my ability to write.
At the beginning of the next school term, I was surprised that Mr. Geller was my AP English II teacher. Our writing essays continued to be as interesting as the previous years were. One assignment was to write a detailed essay on the person’s name that sat beside me in class and which chess piece we would be and why.
With an interesting topic, essays were always enjoyable in Mr. Geller’s class. The lessons I learned from Mr. Geller enabled me to make a perfect score on the G. E. D.
practice test essay. Nerves almost got the best of me but I also scored well on the actual G. E. D. test essay.
The Essay on Christopher Hill The class strugle of the English Revolution
As a prolific historian and scholar of 17th century England, Christopher Hill has taken a unique historical perspective on the Civil War and its manifestations. He perceives the revolution as being a bourgeois insurrection . He also believes that this is the reason for the shaping of England since that time. In 1913 R. G Usher wrote: ?The English Revolution of 1640 is as much an enigma today as ...
I was proud of my work and the resulting test scores. Sometimes I’m still terrified by writing but then I go back to the lessons learned in that long ago English class.
