I own a hotel in our town and that is how I got to know Lisa particularly well. She has helped my hotel through volunteering for one season. She, undoubtedly, became one of my best helpers that I had over the years.
In my experience, teenagers who lived nearby and wanted to get some work experience, preferred to volunteer for 4-5 hours per day. With Lisa everything was completely different. Right from the beginning she asked me if she could work full day. I agreed to that, but was sure that she will not last for a week. However, Lisa exceeded my expectations she has never been late in the morning and always willing to stay overtime. Her dedication was amazing to me and my other employees. Her duties at the hotel included cleaning and, later on, small management tasks.
Lisa handled everything that she was asked to do very efficiently. Whenever she had a spare minute, she would help at the desk or at the front door. Her enthusiasm and commitment was something that really made her stand out. It was amazing to observe how she managed to combine high-level performance, acquiring the work experience and having fun at the same time. In addition, she had a good, friendly relationship with everybody at the hotel. Despite of being young, Lisa possesses firm analytical skills.

That not only proves that she has an extraordinary memory, but also means that she pays much attention to what is going on. Lisa remembered the names of our visitors even after a very short time. Moreover, she has always been very friendly towards the customers even without me telling her how to act. It was very nice to have her as a helper because she had a very good idea what real service meant. Lisa is also very fast learning.
When she just started to work, it was very important that she knew where things were, the way we did things, etc. I gave her a person who could show her around. However, the lady who worked with her told me just in a couple of days that she did not think Lisa needed her anymore. A similar situation happened when we showed Lisa how to use our database. She did not have any problem with keying things in and doing other small, yet essential, things. Having spent this time with Lisa I learnt that it was her desire to attend Cornell University.
