How and when the party was founded The Liberal party of Australia was founded in 1944 after a three- day meeting being held in a small hall not far from Parliament House in Canberra. Robert Menzies, the Prime Minister of Australia from 1939 to 1941, believed that Australian people should be provided with an alternative government by uniting non – Labor parties together Robert Menzies organized 80 men and women from, 19 non – Labor politics to attend the first Canberra conference.
