The Life of Jesus In this essay on Jesus, I am going to talk a lot about what made Jesus such an important figure. I am going to discuss Jesus birth, death and some of what in between. When Jesus was born there was a census of the whole world going on that was ordered by Caesar Augustus. Every one had to register in their won town. So when everybody heard of this census, Joseph went from Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to David s town of Bethlehem. While Mary who was pregnant at the time and Joseph were in Bethlehem, Mary gave birth to her first born son.
She named him Jesus. The only problem was that that there was no space in any shelter for Jesus, Mary and Joseph. So Mary wrapped her newborn baby in some clothes and laid him to rest in a manger. This was the only place they could find for Baby Jesus. There was not a lot written on Jesus when he was growing from boyhood to adulthood.
So I am going to get right to his adult life. As Jesus was travelling from Galilee he ran into John the Baptist. Jesus asked John to baptize him. But at first, he refused. I should be baptized by you, yet you come to me. After a minute of arguing John gave in and baptized Jesus.
After Jesus came out of the water, the sea suddenly opened and he said that the spirit of God descended like a dove and hovered over him. God the Father then spoke and said, This is my beloved son. My favor rests on him. Before but especially after the baptism, Jesus had people who followed him around.
The Essay on Peyote Religion in Sundown by John Joseph Mathew
Chal the main character was born into a time and place where his culture was being destroyed. His blood is not pure Osage, mixed with white, but the Indian blood is powerful inside him. The blood that runs through him takes him to days of the past, days lost, heritage lost, role models lost, and a dying culture. Chal is a perfect example of a lost sole. Throughout this book, Sundown, by John ...
They listened to his teachings and Jesus became a big part of their lives. These people were called disciples. Some time after his baptism, Jesus traveled to Cana in Galilee to where there was a wedding. At this wedding Jesus performed one of his many miracles. During this wedding at one point, the wine ran out.
In times like this to run out of wine was know to be very bad. So when Jesus found out about this dilemma he spoke to his mother She in turn instructed the waiters to do what ever Jesus told them to do. So Jesus instructed the waiters to fill six stone water jars with water. They followed his instructions. All of a sudden the water turned into wine.
Then Jesus told one of the servers to pour a glass and bring it to the waiter in charge. He in turn tasted the wine and said, People usually serve the choice wine first; then when the guests have been drinking awhile a lesser vintage. What you have done is keep the choice wine until now. With this happening Jesus reveled in his glory and his disciples then really started to believe in him. A lot of people started to believe in Jesus. At one time children were brought to him so that he could put his hands on them in prayer.
But then the disciples started to punish them, but Jesus said Let the children come to me. Do not hinder them. The kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Jesus was to be known kind of like a god in some peoples minds, and a lot of people started following him.
