According to Lewis, Thomas, and Worodobey, 1990, individuals, from early infancy, vary in in their physiologic, behavioral, and physiologic responses to standard stressor. They studied theses individuals differences and reported that it could lead to a model of stress susceptibility, which in fact, might explain, more clearly, the patterns of childhood morbidity. In this study researchers decided that they wanted to explore the relationships that occurred among physiologic and behavioral responses to a standardized stressor, parent-reported temperament, and numbers of infections and atopic disorders in the first years of life. The standardized stressor was a routine immunization. They studied infants between the ages of 2- (n = 30) and 4-month (n = 24) routine clinic visits. Behavioral data was coded from videotapes filmed for 90 seconds after immunizations.
Salivary cortisol measured psychological arousal; specimens were obtained before and after immunizations. Two -month-old infants that had a higher level of cortisol required more time to calm after immunization. Relationships were found between the temperament characteristics of persistence and adaptability and infections at 12 months. Tonight I attended presentation given by a motivational speaker, Dellatorro McNeal. He discussed the five P’s in life. He also discussed how important it is that an individual do what he or she wants and likes. Mr. McNeal says that more than 85% of Americans are unhappy with their jobs. He says that you should not let anyone let you think that you cannot accomplish what you want.
“Hold on to your dream even when you experience nightmares.” Dellatorro explains that success is not making it in life, but it is doing what you love to do knowing that someone will pay you for it. The five P’s in life are purpose, pain, potential, passion, and power. The first P is purpose. Dellatorro states that everything you do is for a reason and with a reason.
You have the purpose, and Delattorro says that you do a good job at the wrong thing by not walking in your purpose. This is true, I think that no matter what you do, it means nothing if it is not what you want to do. I also believe that you were brought in this world for a purpose. The second P is for potential. He states that if you want more for your past then you have to change the present. He also says that a person should not let the grave rob them for their greatness.
