Living “the good life” can have a different meaning to each individual. I personally believe “the good life” is made up of the all the little things that make you happy, the goals you set out to accomplish, your relationships with family and friends, and what people will remember about you after you are gone. However, I think there is a mutual understanding of what a “good life” really is. “The good life” is discovering and fulfilling your life’s purpose, overcoming personal obstacles and making and accomplishing your ultimate life goal.
Discovering your life’s purpose is an important part of living “the good life”. For many, finding out your exact life’s purpose can take time. Doing things that make you feel happy or accomplished can help you figure out what your purpose for living is. Caring for others, balancing all aspects of your life (spiritual, intellectual, emotional, etc. ), living a full life are a few example life purposes. I believe my life’s purpose is to help others and make people around me happy.
I have always had a very caring personality and have strived to make others happiness a priority. I love working in places that allow me to care for others and enjoy being in situations where I am able to make people happy. I believe God has blessed me with a big heart and a passion for caring for others. Sometimes we encounter obstacles in our daily lives that can prevent us from achieving “the good life”. These obstacles can be anything from illness, to stress, to self-esteem and even procrastination. I believe the biggest obstacle I need to overcome is my shyness.
The Essay on The Purpose of Life Is a Life of Purpose
Throughout my life, I have persevered through much pain and misfortune; however, instead of using my experiences as reasons for a life of retribution and reparations, I used these tragedies as motivation to making other people’s lives better. Growing up I witnessed my grandmother assist anybody she saw struggling or needed help. During the 17 years she was a part of my life, I watched her nurse ...
While my life purpose is caring for others, I struggle daily with stepping out of my comfort zone. In order to overcome my obstacle I need to do what may make me uncomfortable. Sometimes the things we are doing the things we are most scared to do can turn out to be the best things for us. I believe by overcoming my shyness I will be able to further serve and care for others. Another important part of living “the good life” is developing an ultimate personal goal and figuring out how you want to spend the rest of your life.
Having small personal goals and knowing what you want to accomplish can make fulfilling your ultimate goal possible. Having a life purpose of caring of others, I want to spend the rest of life serving others in the medical field. I am currently on the track to becoming a nurse, with the hopes of one day becoming a nurse practitioner. As a Christian, my ultimate life goal is to daily bring glory to God and serve Him by serving others.
By working as a nurse I will be able to help others, step out of my comfort zone in order to overcome my shyness and accomplish my ultimate life goal of serving God. Doing the all the little things that bring you joy help you to discover your life’s purpose. Making and accomplishing small goals, such as overcoming a personal obstacle, can make developing and completing an ultimate life goal possible. By determining a life purpose, overcoming obstacles and establishing and accomplishing your ultimate life goal, I believe you are able to live “the good life”.
