Strengthening the quality of Education
“Education is not filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” An inspirational quotation from William butler Yeats. Are you aware on what is happening in our country? Especially when it comes to education. Do you believe that having k to 12 program will help our country to have a good quality of education? How come that the officials of our country believe that this program will solve the problems that we encounter when it comes to education. Well, let’s discuss the content and other information under the k to 12 program. And we will see if this program will help us to have a good quality of education in our country.
One of the issues that the Philippine government is still trying to solve until today is the issue on education. Based on what is happening right now in the Philippines, the educational system has not reach to its fullest. Let’s define first what is k to 12 Program. The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of high school and Basic Education">basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School ) because the officials of our country believe that k to 12 will provide enough time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop skillful learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, and this is the solution for the students to have a better future. As all we know, the Philippines is the only country in the world that still follows a 10-year basic education cycle. And so, last October 2010, President Noynoy Aquino proposed the Kindergarten plus 12 or the K+12 program to catch up with the rest of the world having a 12-year basic education cycle. Every Filipino child now has to undergo to early childhood education through Kindergarten. At 5 years old, children start schooling because it is the way to slowly adjust to big school or what we called the formal education.

In Kindergarten, students learn the alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors through games, songs, and dances, in their Mother Tongue. The two years will be added after the four-year high school program. This will be called Senior High School. They say that k to 12 program help in ensuring employment for our graduate because The K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum will be enough to prepare students for work. And when it comes to preparation of teachers for k to 12 program they will be given enough in-service training to implement this program. The training for aspiring teachers will also be determine to meet the requirements of the program. As I was writing this essay, I disagree on what President Noynoy Aquino proposed. I know that He has good reasons on proposing this program as the additional years can help as a preparation for the next chapter of a student’s life: college. In fact, it is also a good way to strengthen the educational system in the country. However, the cons are more than the pros. The program is not yet the immediate solution to the current problem the country has on education. And so I stand firm that there are still other issues on education that the Aquino regime needs to take into consideration. There are many problems in the Philippine education that needed much attention and long-term solutions first like Building classrooms, improve teaching quality, renovate old schools, provide the necessary needs, or do whatever is needed to be accomplished in order for the quality of education to be restored.I’m not saying that K-12 system is totally a bad idea, as it worked on our neighboring countries. However, I strongly believe that K-12 will only work better if the overall quality of education here will be improved to a much competitive level first.
The Essay on Does Sex Education Work?
Does Sex Education Work? The question is no longer should sex education be taught, but rather how should it be taught. Over 93% of all public high schools currently offer courses on sexuality or HIV. More than 510 junior and senior high schools have school-linked health clinics, and more than 300 schools make condoms available on campus. The question now is, are these programs effective, and if ...
We know that the program aims to have a good quality of education in the Philippines in order for graduates to be easily employed. The program also aims to meet the standards required for professionals who would want to work abroad. Most importantly, the system aims to fully enhance and develop the students in order for them to be well-prepared especially in emotional and cognitive aspects. Through this, graduates will be able to face the pressures of their future work place. There may be a lot of factors to consider for the K+12 Education to succeed. But as long as we open our minds to change and we will take it on a positive way, we will definitely attain our most-aspired educational standards which will play a great role in our country’s development and will therefore, uplift us from poverty.
